June Offline in ADL

Post by JamieBahrain »

Hi all

Any interest in putting together an offline in June ? I'd be hoping we could pull off a high end affair as you only live once and we all have a few super special bottles that need to be shared.

So pull out your grange , hill of grace, first growth or grand cry burgundy . Could be a galor affair for the palate- these types of get together are amazing amongst wine lovers ! I'd be happy to source any great bottles from abroad too if interest.

Given that a few of us are with n4sir (Ian) last night in Melb, might have to front up to this. Any preferred dates? I might have one or two wines of interest

I would love to attend my first offline in Adelaide. Sadly, June is out with my present condition

Hope it's an enjoyable evening. I'll be on board from November onwards!

Sounds good.
Grange, or HOG, or Pomerol (La Fleur Petrus or Trotanoy).

Sounds tempting. I think I have a clinic'd 73 Grange somewhere. 2nd bottle for Gail will require more thought. Grand Dame from a good year?

I have a month off between June 11 to July 14 but am moving around. What night is best ? Friday Sat school night ?

I'll bring what can't be found in Oz reasonably - a white and red and will let you all know in advance to ensure up to scratch compared to what everybody else bringing . White a Clos St Hune or Grand Cru Burg and red a top top tier French or Monfortino/Soldera.

I think we will need a structure to the line up so as not to disadvantage any one bottle which would be too wasteful.

Put me down too. Got Grange and HOG sitting there, plus will bring a nice Krug or Salon to start with, I will try not to clash with Jappe.

Nothing clashes with Salon or Krug! If you can find a Salon, I will locate a vintage Krug.

Tentative for me if it's not 23-26 June. However any Fri sat could be difficult for me.

Never seen any soldera in adelaide before. The 1990 that I had in sydney a couple years back was probably one of the best wine in my life.

It would have to be a Sat evening for us, with the exception of 25th.

If that works, put us down 2.

I'm in for STOK (sell the other kidney) - how about something sweet to finish? :D

I have handy (in 750ml format) either a 1999 Chateau d'Yquem or 2001 Chateau Rieussec (99 Parker Pts).

Cheers,
Ian

Ps. Is there going to be a cap on the number of people going, it looks like we are already at 10-11?

OK I'll be plus one so are we full at 12?

99 d'Yquem would be better now Ian. Save your Rieussec.

It looks like the reds are going to be structured about Grange and HofG which could be a theme? I've plenty of HofG with an advantage of professional cellaring. I'd like to do a white too and since we are starting with Salon and completing with d'Yquem I'd be looking at a bottle of Batard Montrachet, Clos St Hune or the top white wine of Beaucastel.

So we'd need another sell a kidney white? Anyone ?

I was thinking of BdM too Crusty though I shivered at the 40% failure rate with prem-ox so toyed bringing two bottles ( just in case ) or just drifting toward the hills of Montrachet.

June 11th?

I am going to see the Bulldogs play that day. It's an arvo game so Sat night could be great?

Now, I do have potential issues. Although I'd prefer this date I will be working the day before and need to get on a flight from HKG the night before. It becomes dependent on Chinese ATC which is about as reliable as Aussie corks. :D

Venue? Needs to be a good one. Splash out a little?

Given we had 1981 at SAK 1, my preference would be the 1983.
