The line-up has now been decided. We have as good a spread as possible for an odd number of bottles.

Let the countdown to the battle begin. Reputations are on the line. Which wine region will reign supreme?

Scopri is always amazing. See if you can get the room on the first floor. We have the numbers for it.

I just went to book Scopri.

Apparently the upstairs room is booked for May 6.

Oddly for a wine dinner for 8-10.

The booking is under the name of 'Greg'.

Two options, if someone has booked it on behalf of this group, thank you, venue is confirmed. If you could let me know that would be great.

Alternatively if this is a coincidence I will find elsewhere.

Doubt it is us - no-one else would have booked. For nine, need somewhere where we can hear each other, cutting out most places. Bergerac fits that criterion. City central, traditional French, so not cutting edge by any means but will suit Cabernet styles - steak, duck etc.

Upstairs at Scopri would be ideal, but the front table there is not bad as well if upstairs is not available, ok a little noisier but still ok. Happy to go with the flow

Nine is too crowded for that front table Malcolm.

Thank you Chris.

We are done.

As Oz would say, battle lines drawn, reputations at stake etc etc. He is so theatrical since we gave him the cape and hat haha.

Should be a good night.

Just bumping this one up as it is scheduled for Fri next week.

Ozzie - how was the balance of wine looking? Do we need to reconfirm?

I assume we are sticking to 1995 - 2005 with possible older entries if warranted

Cabernet and cabernet blends, Coonawarra vs Rest of Australia

Numbers still good?

Good thinking King. I confirm my attendance.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how well my Simpson Desert Cabernet performs :-)

Assuming that everyone is still coming and bringing what they told me earlier, then we have as good a split as possible with an odd number of attendees.

I'll also be bringing an extra bottle along which I think will offer an interesting comparison to the others.

Nah, I wouldn't do that to The King. Gotta give his Cabernet a fair chance to win. Might have to mix it with a soft drink to level the playing field.

Been a while since I've had a Lafite, damn fine it was too, beautiful perfume.

Ozzie, I may bring a couple of bottles myself to offset the Simpson Dessert factor from Chris

Wouldn't mind confirming numbers to see if my mate grb2001 is going to get a gig

"As good a split as possible" Just out of interest, what are the numbers, more Coonawarra or the rest?

In the interest of maximising the blind tasting, I will keep that a secret to prevent anyone placing the region of last bottle mathematically.
