What's everyone's favourite glass for Fizz?

I like a white wine glass..or anything with a largish bulb and a longer body...

I actually quite like the Zalto Universal except the bubbles go away faster..but the nose is fantastic....I like the Zalto Champagne but it feels slightly unbalanced compared to most of their other glasses...the Zalto White wine glass is also really good for Champers...

Depends on the fizz.

I found the Riedel Vinum Shiraz glass ideal for Rose Champagne, though I often reach for Riedel Vinum Chardonnay glass for other bubbles.

A flute would be my least favorite option, though I did get to use a Zalto flute with champagne the other night and damn it feels good in the hand.

Looking to buy some decent glassware for my upcoming long term move to Coffs Harbour. Was considering Zalto, but ended up going for Riedel Vinum's. When I can get 4x Riesling, 4x Cab/Merlot, 4x Pinot and 4x 'O' Chardy/Viognier glasses (bonus glasses for spirits) for only $50 more than 6x Zalto Universals my wallet made my decision for me.

Edit: Just before buying the internet cut out. Maybe the world is telling me something? On second thought better wait until I'm back in Australia and feel the glasses beforehand to make sure I'm getting what I want. What are everyone elses thoughts on the comparison between the two? Six Zalto Universal's is $330 here on Auswine (cheapest I can find) and the above combination of glasses is $385.

To be honest, for vintage fizz, we prefer the Vera Wang flutes from Wedgewood. Not delicate by any means, they will hold their temperature for quite a while if you put them in the fridge for 30 minutes prior to pouring. And the straight profile means that you don't get that carbon and yeast overload that you're prone to get with anything more tulip shaped.

That's when I'm told that I have to use a glass instead of necking the bottle, of course.

I'd rather get 6 Zalto Universals over those glasses...

With 6 Zalto Universals I'd NEVER use those Riedels..ever...you just have to trust that pretty much everyone that has gone to them just never switches back..I use them on occasion for fun and to experiment..but really they feel like big clunky clubs...it is basically like every other glass is just a waste of time...

Not so sure I agree with this. Still not convinced about Zaltos. Love the Riedel Veritas range. My experience is that Zalto just feels too fine/fragile, apart from exaggeration of aroma/alcohol.

I've gotta say the one time I used the Zalto burg I was super impressed by it. I've always liked the Universals when I got the chance. Money was the one thing stopping me, but thanks to Gav the Zalto's are worth it now.

Never used the Veritas though!

Will have my Zalto Burgs and Universals at the Real Burg Tasting So if anyone going wants to take one for a 'test drive' let me know on the night. (I've only got 2 Burgs though, but will have 6 Universals)

I love the Zalto Burgs..but they are a massive pain to transport...

Even at home I don't use them often...love em..but don't use them often..

Getting 4x Universal and 2x Burgundy. Realistically I'll use the Universals for most of my drinking and save the Burgundies for lighter bodied reds and chardonnay.

I really like the Zaltos. Not perfect for everything but so nice to use. I have them at home and in the office and will not be switching to anything else anytime soon.

I also just purchased 6 Zalto champagne flutes for the office. I personally tend to use the Universals for bubbles but it freaks a lot of my colleagues/guests out, so got some Zaltos. Very attractive glasses and nice to use. Used the riedels I have at home shortly after using the Zalto and yes, even the Riedel champagne flute felt clunky. Not that it is a bad glass to drink out of at all, but the overall pleasure of using them is just not the same.

One of the local wine bars I frequent uses Schott glasses and I think I would probably get those instead of Riedel. I do have Riedel H20 glasses that I use for water tumblers or scotch, and they are great.

Interesting - Shannon Bennett seems to go both ways. His shop sells Zalto Champagne and Universal, but Reidel for water and Burgundy. Although, to be honest, I don't think I could justify getting a Sommelier's water glass. Not at that price - my water just isn't worth it...

I use my Zalto Burgs 80% of the time. That being said, I'm drinking a lot of Nebbiolo and other aromatic reds right now...

Slight thread drift: Luke Lambert Syrah 2015 was much better out of the Zalto Burg than it was from the Riedel Shiraz, but only if you got through the glass in around 10min, too much air otherwise...

Not bad eh! One easily fits into my soft leather satchel and over the past year never had a problem. Maybe if I put 2 in there could be trouble.

Nevertheless I am convinced they are bloody tough. One of my Zalto champers glasses, full of champers was knocked on an outside timber table. Champers spilled but the glass just bounced. It was so amazing that 2 couples at the table immediately ordered a 6 pack of them.

I have that...it doesn't quite fit them...well..it does but they create a bulge on the whole thing..

So I've transported them this way but they lose all of the impact protection you'd normally get because with enough pressure, say someone bumps you, they're goners...

Normally the case can take some pretty decent side contact and the vertical pieces in there + the outside cover create a reasonably resistant barrier..but all that doesn't apply to the burgs..

I bought a Winecheck one...it looks bigger in the picture but the dimensions I've looked up don't make me feel like it'll make a difference..but I'll find out once I actually see it..

Yeah, I was taking about the Riedel Vinums fitting this case. I expect the Zalto's would be problematic

Yeah...Riedels will fit (they better right?). Zalto Universals are fine as well...in fact, most glasses are fine just the really large or really bulky ones have issues...
