6 x 2010 Giuseppe Mascarello Barolo Vilero

Billed for x 12 but no problems offloading 6 to friends. 2010 is universally popular partially due its approachability. These will drink like high end burgs for a while!

Very happy to get confirmation of some 2014 en primeur burgundy (Fourrier Griotte Chambertin, Fourrier Chambertin CSJ, Sylvain Cathiard Vosne Romanee Les Malconsorts) from a reputable HK merchant that deals direct with the domaines. My mate in HK went to the tasting in January put on by the merchant which featured the wine makers and we shared a resultant decent sized mixed order as he wanted to concentrate on village wines for early drinking. Will just need to bring them back 3 at a time in my travels after they land in November. It seems the Burgundians are starting to cotton on to selling en primeur, but at least the prices while obviously not cheap for my selection seemed competitive compared to full retail and samples of the wines in my selection were available to taste.

How did the Fourriers taste? I tried them in barrel and was very impressed. Some others at London tastings weren't as happy with them.

My mate in HK went to the tasting and thought they were very good. The track record along with his endorsement was enough for me to buy.

Big & thick is the term I would describe the 2012 bottle I had.

I actually liked it and am happy with the 6 I bought, especially at the price!

2006 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Bel-Air

Hey Oz,

At a Gevrey-Chambertin premier cru dinner recently Shell rated the 2006's more approachable than the highly regarded 2005's.

The 2005's were all classy but built for the long haul.

2006's were very good drinking.

Looking forward to your thoughts on this one.

Hey BTB

I thought it was pretty schmick!

My note on cellartracker says:
"12/03/2016 Beautiful and powerful Shiraz. Dark fruits and some secondary characters. No rush to drink well-stored bottles of this. Excellent!"

Very happy I have another 4......

Cheers
