I am looking for a great Barossa Shiraz 2014 to cellar for anywhere between 15 and 20 years however I am not sure how to go about it. I know 2014 was a tough year for the region and I am not sure if there have been any recommendations released yet? Any help would be much appreciated
You may have to wait a few years for the 2014s to come on the market. The biggest thing will be how much do you want to spend. Assuming it is for a special occasion, if you have plenty of cash then Grange or Hill of Grace is the natural choice. If you want something on the other price end then Rockfords Basket Press or Bin 389 will see 15-20 if they are stored correctly.
never underestimate the predictability of stupidity
Thanks rens for the great feedback! Actually my first child born in 2014 so wanted to store some nice wine for her 18th! Grange and HOG definitely above my salary cap but Rockfords sounds like an awesome option... any estimation of their roll out price for this vintage??
There is only one Mt Edelstone - it is a Henschke wine. I had a 1998 a few weeks ago that was sensational.
Hunter had the best vintage in 50 years for reds in 2014 (arguably). Unfortunately, there are a number of winemakers who tried too hard with their bounty and made a potentially great wine lesser. One wine that should last the distance is the Tyrrells vat 9. Google Tyrrells and contact them if you want some.
