Also bear in mind, Rocket is not really Dego so we'll only have 3-4 courses in reality. So we will need to try and minimise the flights as much as possible.

Shame there are no 90's BP's

It's options! Anything goes, obv with some form of vague link to the overall theme?

I think we should allow one or two whites maximum, assuming people bring something extra that is. Any other backups/options must go after all the theme wines are done?

Sorry Vinh, forgot your wine! You know what you're bringing Polymer?

Something like this perhaps? Slot Polymer's Wendouree in somewhere depending on age

2004 Bollinger Champagne (lauren)

Entree 1
1991 Wendouree Shiraz Malbec (TiggerK)
1992 Mt Edelstone (deejay81)

1994 Wendouree Shiraz (Hacker)
1996 Mt Edelstone (dave vino)

Entree 2
2003 Wendouree Shiraz Mataro (ufo)
2003 Basket Press (krusty)

2006 Mt Edelstone (maybs)
2005 Basket Press (pc79)
???? Wendouree ?? (Polymer)

Main
2009 Mt Edelstone (vinh)
2009 Wendouree Shiraz Mataro (pc79) ??
2010 Basket Press (burges)

Not sure what I'm bringing...I've been looking through some stuff but I can't find what I'm looking for...I must've taken it overseas...
Tentatively a 95 Wendouree Shiraz Mataro..
or if I should bring something younger... a 12 Shiraz Mataro...Maybe that'll match up better with the younger Edelstone/BP..

@Jamie, do you recommend standing the Edelstones upright for a couple of days prior?

Dave

Yes, stand it up for a few days as it throws a solid crust. The wine doesn't need any aeration so for travels, decant a few hours before the event, wash the bottle out with neutral water and refill with decanted wine. This practice has worked well when commuting to dinners as the old Henschkes get too gritty when shaken.

Just standing my one now and can see quite a bit of that solid crust you mention.

Don't think I'll be able to do the decant, wash bottle with neutral water thing though, not really confident doing any of this so i'l bring it as is and let some of the wine veterans do what they can with it on the night 8)

Mine is only an '06 so if I think to do it tomorrow I might double decant it more to get some air into it than get rid of any crust.

Looking forward to it.

I will decant the 1994 Wendie Shiraz after breakfast and hopefully it will soften over the day into a thing of beauty. I hope I do too!

The restaurant is providing us with two red wine glasses each of fairly high standard, but if you want to bring more, it's up to you.

Thanks for that Jamie.

Well I just realised I can't find my micro strainer, so will endeavour to keep it upright if someone can bring one along tonight?

Terrible view there Scott!

The 09 Wendouree Shiraz Mataro was decantered for 2hrs this morning and is back in the bottle. The options wine currently in the decanter and the 05 basket press will be opened at 3:30pm for a swoosh.

Good times

Was tossing up bringing a white but there is already going to be a lot of wine so might not. I am 50/50 at this stage. If no one else is bringing white I will throw one in to chill, probably a 2010 Kumeu Hunting Hill, maybe a 2013 Apsley Gorge Chardonnay.
