2010 Penfolds Bin 128 Coonawarra Shiraz

Funky smell at first but blew off after decanting and a bit of glass time.
It's a very simple wine, and def had the cool climate shiraz characteristics. Not much fruit, a little tannin, a bit of french oak.
Medium length but barely, and was kind of ordinary on its own.

Tasted much better after grilling some lamb chops and having them together.

Day 2 of a glaetzer godolphin shiraz 2005
Really lovely wine, the fruit and oak is nicely balanced.
24hrs has seen the acidity decline and the sweetness of the ripe fruit shine through.
This bottle appears to have been really well stored, good tightly packed in cork and sitting well below the rim of the bottle, required quite a bit of effort to pull out.
I'm a real fan a glaetzer, especially the Amon ra.
This was my first godolphin and it impressed me immensely.

"Day 2" of any wine never happens in my house.

Put the cork in , refrigerate and could well blossom overnight.

I do a lot of northern Rhone verticals and time and time again I take the remnants of a Cote Rotie discarded in a line up and it drinks beautifully on day 2.

To add to recent notes from others, I've had the 2005 Godolphin Shiraz and the 2013 Mt Langi Cliff Edge Shiraz.
The Godolphin is a baby at 10 years old, needs another 5-8 to really start to shine. Really liked it though.
The Cliff Edge was easy drinking, lovely bright fruit, and good balance. Needs another 5 at least.

that was exactly my thoughts although I didn't add that to the notes (on the godolphin)
funny thing is though, I know it is exactly how my missus likes it.
would she like it more in another 5? I'm thinking probably not as much, me a bit more.
guess we will find out in 2020!

2010 Cune Crianza Rioja
After an hour in the decanter this has lovely arromatics of Raspberry, roses and earthy spice. The palate is velvety and polished with earthy flavours, hints of tobacco and savoury spices. The tannins are grippy yet mouth watering. It's easy to drink and is in no way built to cellar but when the glass is finished, I'm quickly looking to top up.

1984 Enterprise Wines Cabernet Sauvignon
Opens a bit stale but blows of early. Lovely elegant and surprisingly fruit sweet palate. The length is amazing. Soft, mature and a real pleasure to drink. Alc13.2%

2010 SERAFINO cab sav.
Nose; Black Berry, Spice, Mint, subtle oak and a hint of stalk and stem.
Palate; Plum/fruit/vanilla finish with very soft silky tannins.
Drink window suggest this will carry thru to 2020.
Hmmm I'm thinking drink now or within the next 18 months.
I don't think this has the tannin structure to go much further.
Solid/good value wine from CD.

Domiane de thalabert, chapoutier s Sizeranne, D'Ampuis have all shown these characteristics.. but poo in a glass !!

Parker had given 84 points too the 05 gilles barge..
a bad wine !

Read the review after you bought maybe?
Read up on cellar tracker a bit, atleast you get the opinion of many palates instead of just one
One other thing, without bad wine experiences the good ones would not be as good

Have you had many Turkey Flat Shiraz before? I am asking not in a challenging way, but to see how you think it compares to previous vintages. If you are a TF regular I would be interested in you opinion of the 2012.

I would be interested in your impressions, after previously posting some notes on the wine (could not find the link), however it was unfavourable. I am happy to be proved wrong, after purchasing half a dozen on reputation before trying the wine.
Over the last couple of days- trying my purchases at great prices:
2013 Belgravia Apex Chardonnay fairly heavily worked - oak prominent but not overpowering, long finish, fruit in the background, not a crisp acidic wine, but more perhaps a winter white, served at about 12 degrees, very enjoyable. A white wine for red wine drinkers. 13% alc.
2012 Grant Burge Filsell 14% , classic Barossa, 2nd tasting/notes, oak prominent but not overpowering, powerful but elegant (compared to 2010). Will be interesting to see how this develops over the next 10 years

2001 Jack Mann - blackberries, milk choc and gum leaves and gravel, a touch of tobacco, silty tannins. Bloody good

2013 Maretti Langhe - nose of roses and violets, cherry, spice, pretty thing, smidge of aniseed and herbs. 3rd night after opening. Tannins a little sticky. Good for $17
