I still haven't found any full bottles of this at my regular haunts. There's too much 2011 hanging around :(

HILARIOUS!!!!

As I said, the wine drinker in HK is incredibly point-conscious. RPJ's 2005 revised Bordeaux scores are out today.
You wouldn't believe it, but, as you know, I have been stocking up on Pavie and Troplong Mondot 2005 over the past year, as they are two of the greatest wines I have ever seen.
Well, I purchased another case of the Troplong Mondot a couple of weeks ago in HK, and after the Lord of the Rings gave it 100 points today, the same retailer sent me an email offering to buy the wine back off me for 35% more than I paid for it!!!! Hahahahah, it is still in his cellar, I have not even taken delivery yet. God, totally crazy :D

Yeah it's out there - starting to make more of an appearance now. It doesn't seem long after the 2011 was released they put out the 2012, been a bit slow though.

Felix I'd get those wines confirmed as I'd never get between anyone in HKG and a pot of gold!

6 x G Mascarello Monprivato 2010 ( again )

6 x Cristal 2007 ( daughter's birth year )

Good to hear. How does it compare to recent vintages? I have only had a half bottle and while we enjoyed it, I think we liked it as much as the 2010 and it was the 2008 that had been our favourite so far (from 2007 - 2012).

I skipped the 07 Cristal based on the vintage conditions, yet it seems all the critics are talking it up....

Hi Jamie, have you already tried the Monprivato? I was eyeing some off as well but there has been some mixed reports, it should be a star!

I'm not sure what the problems are with 2010 Monprivato? I tried at cellar door and I felt it on the mark but couldn't pick up on the hype- whereas 2004 I felt I could.

Monprivato gives a brief snapshot before needing a long sleep. I could see new to Barolo and all the recent hype dismissing the wine or are the comments from old time Barolo drinkers?

Yes Mike was unsure but it's a birth year wine and I felt for ceremony couldn't go wrong .

Thanks Jamie, much appreciated. Haunting is such a good word to describe what I remember of previous vintages too. We used to see a bit of it in Oz and now they rarely seem be around. I've not seen any 2010 but I may have missed it. Wine-searcher only lists one in Oz with stock of the 2010 (at $375).

My brother lives in HK so I was buying it there. I actually ordered the 2010 Ca D'Morissio and the Monprivato turned up. Now I'm deciding whether to keep it or send it back. Think you've twisted my arm.

I've actually only tried the 2012 out of the half bottles too but thought it worth buying. Haven't cracked any of my 2009 or 2010s of this wine - and sadly don't have any of the 2008.

Picked up a few at auction the other week. What are they going for in HK? (Probably don't want to know, will just be depressing)

everywhere advertising is "sold out", so ignore wine searcher on Troplong and Pavie 2005.
however, Wine Vault are happy to find you an OWC of Troplong for only $450/bottle!!!  (was $250 until three days ago)

Wow. Paid not much more than the $250 so hopefully they are in good nick.

I would be interested in what people think of the 2012 as I bought some of the 2010, but have tried the 2012 twice (1 x full and 1 x half) and not really warmed to it.

Any notes/thoughts out there?

Cheers

There is perceptively some bottle variation in the Metala 2012 - 2 x 2 samples taken i.e. 2 bottles on one night repeated once to make sure. The main difference was on the bouquet. That said, the least of the bottles was still cracking value for under a tenner. But I would like to know why the variation. Different tanks despite the single vineyard? Some with more sulphur? Or is it screwcap related? Or is it storage? The four were bought from three different locations.

cheers

For people that are interested here is the revised list of the major growth. Sadly whilst some of the wines I am holding appear to be developing well, a couple don't appear to be shaping up as well as I had hoped.
