That is Rousseau EP.
At cellar door a few years ago we quizzed them about buying direct and they said they have a handful of private customers. From memory Chambertin cellar door was less than 200 euros

Weekend in Melb including a quick trip to do something I'd been hoping to do for years, visit the main ridge cellar door.

Picked up a 3 pack of 11, 12 & 13 Chardonnay.

The experience was even better than I'd hoped. old school, served by the owner\winemaker etc who is a gent.
As for the wines, I rate his Chardonnay comfortably in my top 5, and its the one grape i d back myself to know my arse from my elbow.
I understand they're selling up after 40 years, so if your in the mornington soon, and you like world class Chardonnay... Don't miss this.

Returned 6 x Clarendon Hills Astralis Syrah 2010 for 4 x Penfold's Grange 2010. 6 x Bass Phillip Premium Pinot Noir 2012 @ $165/bottle (Not cheap at all, but at this price Ievel, I can't get anything close in terms of quality from Vosne-Romanee).

But you will never regret it.

I assume you are buying direct if its 2013 vintage and you have some sort of introduction or long term relationship to them and you just can't walk in off the street like an Australian cellar door?

Btw, out of interest what price do they charge direct? I have drunk young Rousseau Chambertin or Clos de Beze a number of times off restaurant winelists in France and the current going rate at the right venue is about 500-550 euros a bottle, which sure beats buying it in Australia or HK. You just have to make the sacrifice of drinking a great wine young rather than waiting until its peak but my dining group wasn't complaining about vinous infanticide when we sampled a 2010 Clos de Beze in Beaune last year :D

there is a stupidly funny thread over on Berserkers ATM about drinking young Burgundy. Wine snob heaven thread.

For my birthday in 2011 I went with a then GF to Circa/Prince in St Kilda for dinner. Spied a 2005 Rousseau CdB for, incredibly, $500. After enquiring if the price was correct, I quickly ordered a bottle, which they decanted and which was one of the truly great Burgundy experiences for me. At 6 years old, it was just stunning, mind-blowing. Now, I hate spending that sort of money on a single bottle, but bugger me, I told the staff to put another bottle away, paid for it, and went back and drunk it the following weekend!!! Again, pretty much a epiphany, and I have been lucky enough to drink a hell of a lot of Burg,.
2005 Rousseau, I just cannot imagine wine being better than that. From his village upwards that year, just awesome. Too bad he (relatively) stuffed up 07 and 08!!

I reckon 08 burgs will emerge with time- they have some high tone florals and acid- and are in a terribly awkward stage atm
07 I have never had one I liked - the Rousseau beze was probably the better one that was made

agree Michel, his 2007's pretty ordinary, especially if compared to 2005!!! CdB 07 is a very good wine, but not for $800!!!!
just when I said I wouldn't get any 13 Burgs, I relented and got Fourrier up here, en primeur. Incredibly cheap.
Echezeaux (in magnum), Cherbaudes, Aux Echanges, Goulots, Village vv, and Combe aux Moines. Supposed to have made sneaky good wines in 13, I might well double-up when the Aussie importer sends me his 2013 Burg catalogue soon :D

Felix - well done re the Fourrier. If you are happy to reveal, who was the importer please? All the Fourrier I have seen in HK has been overpriced. I bought this grower for the first time last year from the Australian importer and have been drinking the 2012 village wines to try them out and have been impressed.

sure.... it is L'Imperatrice. They have Fourrier on strict allocation, but as of yesterday I know they had some bits and pieces floating around from 2013. No harm in asking, and if you become a client, I would imagine they will include you in the 2014 offer (supposed to be the best vintage since 2010, which admittedly is not saying a lot!!!)
I have seen the 2013 offers on wine searcher... yea, HK is expensive, but not if you go thru these guys en primeur. (I got it at 25-30% less than the competing importers up here) As I mentioned on another thread ages ago, Fourrier is all the rage here, fuelled no doubt by his multiple trips to present and flog his wines.
The Aussie importer is also extremely cheap, but each year the allocations seem to shrink. But inappropriate to mention him on this forum, with respect to Gavin.

but the one thing that absolutely annoys the hell out of me about Fourrier is their bloody bottles!!!!!!!!
you cannot stack into a diamond cellar rack, too unstable, and they don't fit properly into my individual spaces
so, have to leave them in their boxes, super annoying!!!!
anyone else have this problem???

I have the bug Michael. It could be worse. I could have landed in Burgundy...
My name is Rens and I'm a Riojaholic. :(

That Ygay reserva is a nice wine. Great now, but will hold for 5 years.
The Ygay Gran reserva is real nice and will be fantastic in 5-10

Thanks for the heads up, will probably have a look at one bottle (for science) and leave the rest for 10 years.

Why is so much Scavino turning up at auction? Seems a little odd. Wouldn't be a private cellar must be the importer unable to sell?

Drinking young Nebbiolo you do become a mad scientist with aeration trials- one young Barbaresco I drink young you have a glass with food and the rest of the bottle takes two days to spring to life.

Half sized decanters are my new weapon. I found these beauties in Prague a few days ago. A glass of a young 2010 Gagliardo Barolo night one then the rest in the half decanter day two worked well.
