2005 Turkey Flat Mourvedre, Barossa Valley (cork): 14.5% alc. Medium to almost dark crimson/red. Smells sweet and meaty at first, Turkish delight and beetroot, rose petals, tomato skin, blueberry, clove and simmering beef stock, although there’s a hint of damp dirt and oil deep in the background. The palate opens with a sweet bang of fruit, but a dampness and bitterness kicks in mid-palate stripping the fruit through to the finish. Is it a varietal characteristic or cork taint? I suspect it’s the latter.
Cheers,
Ian

Pity. Has TF moved to all screw-caps yet?

With the exception of the Pedro Ximenez I think they moved everything to screwcap a few years ago. Have to say I'm happy about it, because I would have a guess my strike rate of TCA with them would be above average.

2015 update: Medium to darkish garnet. Mercifully no sign of cork taint this time, just glorious sweet raspberry, dark chocolate, rose petals and smoked meats, touches of blueberry, mulberry, rum & raisin. The palate’s just as good, a soft entry followed by a bang of medium-weight, power-packed, tangy sweet red fruits, finishing long with very fine tannins. My last bottle and at ten years of age the best of them, restoring my faith in the decision to buy a few bottles at release.

I've yet to open my final bottle of Cullen DM 2001. The last one was an all-acts TCA circus. I look forward to opening it with serious trepidation. Glad your last bottle of TF Mourvedre 05 was singing for you. BTW, have long-time appreciated your TNs.
