Fridge temperature variance

Post by PNo »

Hello All,
I have a 150 bottle fridge, single temperature zone.
I have placed thermometer one on the top, one in the middle and one at the bottom shelf. The controller is set to 11c. Top shelf measures 11c, middle measures 15c and bottom measures 19c in summer warmer days. In cooler days or other than summer the difference becomes smaller, 11c to 15c top to bottom.
How much temperature variance do you get on your fridge?
Cheers,
PNo

Worst case, in hottest weather, about 3C. i always keep a clear channel down one side where air can circulate - if completely full it inhibits airflow down to bottom and has an impact. In a 250 bottle fridge, this reduces capacity by about 15 bottles

I had a similar temperature issues on at least one of my fridges, ended up following @TiggerK's suggestion of blower fans on both fridges:

- Soldered DC power-cable plugs onto 2x blower fans
- Taped the fans to foam padding (to stop them from vibrating the entire fridge door/unit)
- Had already removed a rack from the bottom of the fridge. Removed some bottles to make space so they don't sit against the vibrating fan (bad!).
- Taped the padded fans to the glass door of the wine fridge at the bottom.
- Connected to a DC splitter, DC extension lead and variable DC power adapter.

Did the trick, now variation is around 1-2 degrees from top to bottom at most times, or 3-4 degrees only on the very hottest days.

Will see if I can post a couple of photos on the weekend.

I actually have the opposite. Have set the 200 bottle fridge to 11C and am now seeing the top level sitting on around 13C and the bottom at about 9C..

Actually yeah mine were in reverse (which makes more sense to me, as hot air rises!) still, the blower fan solution should still work for you for circulating the air. :)

Your one almost sounds like the bottom area isn't working correctly, as it doesn't seem right to be hotter at the base!
