A great bottle, in spectacular condition.
Cassis, cigar box and graphite backed up by luscious sweet fruit on the nose. the palate shows more of the cigar box and graphite with, for the vintage, surprisingly elegant and structured fruit.
One of the best Petaluma Coonawarra I have drunk, right up there with the '96.

I've been wondering whether to open a bottle. Now moved onto launch pad.

Slightly off topic, are the current Petaluma releases still top notch? Thinking of putting some 2012's away if they have been released.
Thoughts? Worth it? Price wise?

The Petaluma Coonawarra was a bit of a stand out for me at last years Langtons tasting, but I know this wasn't the case for everyone - some found it stewy and over extracted - maybe I'm just a sucker for a hint of menthol.
I believe this was the 2010.

Here's my TN from last month.
Deep colour remains; graphite & iodine, skinny nose, belies what follows; tensile strength, plenty of latent power, opens out with blackcurrant pastille flourish; extended finish. Yet, not entirely convincing. More time needed? 92 points.
