I am actually skipping Noon this year. Too many other purchases (Marius/Wendouree) recently which has killed the bank accounts etc.

Argh, got seduced by the siren song of Penfolds (and the sharp pricing from Uncle Dans!) ...

As part of a Gang of Four popped over to Burgundy/Sancerre at start of week. Highlight was a first time visit to Nathalie & Gillss Fèvre in Chablis - left with a mixed case, including the already difficult to find Vaulorent '11. This is a domain to watch. Returned to Denis Jamain & were met by the main man, on this occasion. Wines which provide a sense of place & VFM. 18 bottles later. The Patrick Javillier (Meursault) '12s impressed (esp BB & Tillets) - sensible gene kicked in as first visit - just a lad case. 2nd visit in 3 months to Henri Bourgeois & this time tasted most of the range: another case + some (occasion release ) late harvest - currently '08. And one more first time visit: Gerard Boulay (Sancerre) - five cuvées reflected their origins. A touch pricier than HB equivalents, but again VFM, but just a half case.

Nice Mark
Sometimes seems like half of Chablis is Fevre produced!
Never heard of this particular label, will keep a lazy eye out.

Thought I'd try some of the new Penfolds releases but Dan conspired against me as I was also after a 150 and 51. A guy there even rang another store which said they only had one left of each but it turned out that they were from the previous vintage. Up side is the damage wasn't as bad as I was expecting so I won't feel so bad about trying to hunt down some Wynns and PL Stonewell to sample :D .

1 x 2012 Penfolds Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz (taster)
2 x 2012 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz
1 x 2008 Metala White Label Shiraz Cabernet (taster)
1 x 2012 Rockford Eden Valley Riesling (taster)
3 x 2011 Rockford Local Growers Semillon
1 x 2014 Rockford White Frontignac (taster)
1 x 2014 Rockford Alicante Bouchet (taster)
2 x 2010 Rockford Moppa Springs
3 x 2011 Rockford Rifle Range
1 x Rockford P.S Marion Tawny

Had a lovely trip down to Rutherglen with my wife, my mum and her partner. It's a fantastic wine region! I knew the fortifieds would be good but I had no idea how tasty the reds and whites would be as well. Went a little bit overboard ... also visited my local winery Mount Majura while they were here, has to be one of the best set up tastings I've experienced. Anyway purchases were:

2 x Campbell's Gewurz
Campbell's Sparkling Shiraz
Campbell's Barkly Durif
Campbell's The Empire
Campbell's Bobbie Burns
Campbell's Allen's
Jones Shiraz
Jones Botrytis Muscat
Jones Old Tawny
Morris Grand Tokay
Morris Grand Muscat
Morris Sparkling Shiraz Durif
2 x Morris Malbec
Morris GSM
Morris Sparkling Moscato
Morris CHM Durif
Mount Majura Graciano
Mount Majura Shiraz
Mount Majura TSG
Mount Majura Tempranillo Pack (3 x single vineyard)
Pfeiffer Frontignac
Pfeiffer Classic Tawny
Pfeiffer Seriously Pink
Pfeiffer Seriously Nutty
Pfeiffer Pinot Noir
Pfeiffer Carlyle Shiraz
Stanton & Killeen Sparkling Shiraz
Stanton & Killeen Muscat Blanc
Stanton & Killeen White Fortified
Stanton & Killeen Vintage 2005
Stanton & Killeen Classic Muscat

Joined the Morris mailing list too, sensational wines at great prices. I have definitely found my second favourite wine region behind Canberra!

As an aside, I've been too busy brewing (and sampling) beer to drink much wine before Mum's visit. My 9th batch is in the fermenter now and I have been on an intensive and broad learning journey over the last 6 months :D

I ummed and ahhed about buying some for too long, then they sold out. Guess I'll be waiting for the 2012 to get a good vintage now...

I think I'm wanting to go back for some more. I've grabbed one for Christmas (probably the first chance to crack one) and one for later years but starting to think maybe I pick up more so it doesn't dry up before I realise I want more. Also wondering about doing the same with the 2010 too :s

Succumbed to getting more. I'll deal with this next month

2 x 2010 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz
2 x 2012 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz

Kinda got lucky though. DM's didn't think there was any 2010 left in their stores and the two I got were the last from the 1stC near work. Hopefully that's the second last purchase for a while. There's still some Wynns and a Lehmann's I'm after though :?

I am also heading up to the CD next week. Wondering if you have tried yet or just bought as a loyal customer? I would like to get a couple but I think that will be it for the BP. Certainly be getting a couple Black Shiraz though and some RR.

Rockford
Alicante - 2014 is wonderful - drunk half purchase in less than a week
Rifle range x 6
Black Shiraz c 6
Noon - pick up next month
Eclipse c 6
Cab sav
Shiraz only one
Rose
Henschke x 6
Mr Edelstone - fingers crossed the wine will be great but hate makers who add senseless packing. Hentley Farm is another. I wish they would all stick to what's inside the bottle.

Ads,

I only bought the BP to keep my vertical going. Having said that, the 2011 Rifle Range was very good so I have a little faith that the BP will be OK. I'm guessing more of an early drinking style but I won't get to try one till I go in May. Be interesting to read some tasting notes from forumites.

Cheers Ian,

CM on the The Wine Front has briefly mentioned the '12 RR is excellent so that is a great sign. And they do half bottle so a few of them might be in order.
