A great night. Thank you Michael for the char grilled cow and roast verges-Perfect match for the wines and the weather.
It was nice meeting a few new comers. I hope both Clive and Jarrod join us for the next offline.
Again Michael your notes are spot on. Although I think the JR was definitely buggered by bark, my TCA tolerance is pretty low and this set my alarm bells ringing at the first whiff.
The VO was the pick and I found this morning, to my delight, that it had wound up in my wine bag. I can confirm it is as good tonight as it was yesterday :D .
Thanks all for your generosity.

Re: Burge Family Winemakers Port - Brisbane Group Buy?

Post by Michael McNally »

So folks. What are your thoughts on a group purchase/bottling? (sounds like another excuse to drag out a few good bottles to me) :D

I would be happy getting pretty much any of the wines except the Muscats which are simply too full on for me.

Happy to get 3-5 litres of any of the Port Blends though would prefer wines 7 or 8 as I am not putting this into a keg but bottling for consumption over the next couple of winters. That said, if people want to get wine 6, I am up for a bit of that. I really enjoyed wine number 1 too, so would be up for a litre or two of that!

Should we start a new thread? I have just modified the title of this one.

Cheers

I'm definitely keen on wine 1 and don't mind getting a decent amount. Could easily take some of others. I just need to remember which wines were which.

Okay

Ordering 20L of the VO Port for me, Ticklenow1 and gpk (vovo might take a bottle or two)

Not sure how much of the No.1 to order. Cesar and vovo are in for some and I wouldn't mind bottling a couple? 10L??

Anyone else?

Cesar is also interested in wine number 2, anyone else.

I would like to finalise the order today.

Cheers

Sounds good to me. I preferred wine 3 over wine 2, but not enough to take more than a litre. I liked them all, but I need to show some restraint

I'm in for wine 1 (5L or a smidge more if needed to make 10L for the group buy) and wouldn't mind a bottle or two of wine 8 depending on availability.

Could be tempted for a bottle of others if numbers are needed, they are all great value.

Cheers

Hi Cesar

As you are the only person interested in wine two it might be easiest if you order it direct?

Anyone interested in a couple of litres of wine 1 to bump vovo and me up to 10L? Otherwise I will pass and vovo you can order 5L direct?

I will let you know when the Number 8 arrives.

Cheers

Oops wine 2 is what Cesar is keen on, check with him. Wine 1 is what I and possibly Michael are looking at.

Apologies

The Eagle has landed.

20 litres of Port #8. Wow, that's a lot of port!

So when are we going to bottle this sucker Rens and Ian. I know gpk is not available so we should find a date soonish when we can do it. I have some old bottles, though they are a bit of a mish mash.

Any suggestions for a date? You could bring your partners and make a night of it?

Cheers

I'll try and find where I can get some new bottles. If I'm not working and I can palm the wee fella off to Grandma, then we are a go!

If you had to choose between drinking great wine or winning Lotto, which would you choose - Red or White?

Hi Michael.
I have my 5 litre bottle left over from the Sepeltsfield port that I can transport my allocation (I'm assuming that 5 litres was for me).
However happy to give you a hand to decant into other containers. I guess you could syphon with a garden hose-I'll volunteer to be the one sucking the port to the top of the hose :D . Happy also to make a night of it. Kellee and I are available on 19/20 and 27 September.
Let me know if we need to push it out a bit further.

20L with a container and delivery was $577, so a quarter is $144.25 per person.

I will pm my account details.

I am assuming I can buy a little tap to put on the container. There is certainly a bunghole (apologies to any Beavis and Butthead fans) to screw one into.

Can't do the 20th or 27th. Ian can you and Janine make the 19th?

Cheers
