I went to poen a bottle of wine last night, under screwcap, and on twisting only succeeded in turning the whole capsule without breaking the seal. I then twisted and pulled and the entire capsule came off quite easily. The wine appeared as it should, no issues so the seal must have been ok prior to me wrestling with it. It took some fiddling to part the seal when the who shebang was off the bottle, but it then sealed ok afterwards..... the cap looks exceptionally naked with no adjoining lower section.....
A new experience for me.
Screwcap 'failure'
Re: Screwcap 'failure'
Happened to me once or twice. I was moving a bottle of something in my cellar (which is basically a large number of wine cartons) and turned the collar and lid loose. I tightened it up but decided to drink the wine in the next couple of days. Can't remember the wine but do remember it was fine.

Yeah, this has happened to me a couple of times. Bloody irritating when the capsule just screws around without going anywhere. Reminds me of several people I know. I've taken to cutting through the restraining crimps with a sharp knife which gets the job done, although slowly and potentially painfully. Never had a problem with the contents though.
