Freight costs

Post by ads_11 »

Hi there,

I recently purchased a 6 pack of Marius wines from a retailer in WA. These were what seemed to be the last Marius wines for sale in any retailer in Aus  so I just had to have them.

I have been quoted $65.55 for freight though with Aust post, which seems pretty rich to me. Does this sound about right?

Cheers

I had a case of Wendouree shipped from SA to Sydney (from the winery) and from Sydney back to Adelaide (by my friends in Sydney) and it cost about $30 for the first leg (reflecting winery volume pricing I assume) but about $65 for the return journey using Aus Post's "Wine Service" (which means they put a sticker on it or something equally futile)

The last time I sent a dozen Canberra to SA, cash sale over the counter, with insurance, $37.

No, that price is entirely unreasonable

I occasionally buy from one of the WA-based auction houses and the shipping is $16.50 to Melbourne...

Managed to get it down to $40.. Still a bit steep I reckon, but if I want them I suppose it will have to be ok..
