I ordered a mixed dozen and have just been charged $128.90.

Not even sure what that amount means? Still it seems at least i'm getting something on my 1st year I guess.

My credit card has been charged today :) Based upon the amount charged on my card I am guessing I have been allocated 3 bottle of something, and 3 bottles of the muscat.

First time on the mailing list for me. I ordered a mixed case but just got charged for $88.60 - looks like I got two bottles (and assume no shiraz or cab sav, given the amount charged). Oh well, guess it's good to get something in the first year!

I ordered 6 of each reds, I got charged $505.60, presume I got 12 bottles of the $40 reds plus 2x $12.80/ case delivery charge. By the look of it I get 4 of each of Shiraz/Mataro, Shiraz/Malbec and Malbec. Not even a bottle of the Cab or Cab/Malbec. Not happy Jan! :( (my first year)
Independent retailers, here I come for the Shiraz, Cab and Cab/Malbec.

MSE, in your first year I think you have done very well.
The shiraz blends are really good wines.
The trick for a first year punter may have been to be a little more circumspect with your order...6 of each straight off the bat is a big ask IMHO.
I have seen the wines at an independent here in Adelaide, a neat 100% mark up on the MO price.

Wait a couple of months if you can, the arseholes (sorry Gavin, I meant to say flickers) will be sending a lot of the bountiful 2012 release off to the auction houses. If you are prepared to pay around $125 +/- commission (for the shiraz and a little less for the rest), I am confident you will be able to get as much as you wish.

Cheers
Craig.
Tomorrow will be a good day

Just seen 893,2 come of my card.

5th year on the list, but only the 3rd order - a house move and a recession stopped the other 2...I had a red crayon mark...

Cant quite figure that out. 3 of everything + a bottle of the stickie get near, but I presume there will be more of the "cheaper" wines than the expensive. Hopefully it includes at least 1 malbec

mse, Cabernet is usually hardest to get...and I think Cab/Malbec will have been in big demand this year due to GW write up. Malbec is small production, and therefore often very hard to get too. With this in mind, I'd bet you get either 6 each of the Shiraz blends...or 7 of the $40 wines and 4 Shiraz. You never know...

Hi Simon1980,
You are spot on, I only got the two Shiraz blends. I wish they could at least include some straight Malbec for me to have a complete comparison on their $40 reds. Make that 4 reds from Wendouree on my shopping list. Sigh...

Hi pillisc (Craig)
Thanks for your advise, the auction price tag of $125/ bottle + commission for their Shiraz is just too much. Even the retailers sell at double the price (say $100 for the Shiraz) I am still better off than getting them from the auctioneers.
Could you please PM me the Adelaide retailers which still have Wendouree 2012 wines in stock? Thank you . :)

I got:
4 x Shiraz Mataro
4 x Shiraz Malbec
3 x Cabernet
1 x Muscat.

Happy enough with that for a first go.

2 x Shiraz Malbec
2 x Shiraz Mataro
2 x Cab Sauv

After ordering a mixed dozen in my first year, pretty happy with what I got!

Good luck finding a retailer that only sells at double the price ! Wendouree don't sell direct to any retailers ... Sorry to disappoint

My advice - just forget the Shiraz. Lots of older vintages of the cab Malbec, Shiraz mataro, etc etc for 40-50 at auction

Red crayon, Sydney, posted my form back around August 5 and got my request of 6 bottles of everything delivered, August 22.

I've been pretty lucky so far, have always ordered 6 of everything and get this. Perhaps ordering 6 of everything in 2011 helped!

To those who didn't get any Wendouree - doesn't matter, there's lots of wine out there. Stock up on foreign wine before the $AUD drops, Aussie wines will always be around.

I rang them yesterday and they had leftovers of both the shiraz blends, so was no problems grabbing a six pack without being on the mailing list.

Hi Bonzai,
After I saw what you found out, I am flabbergasted about getting "full order" on 6 of each of the "leftover" Shiraz blends, the first year on mailing list seemed to be meaningless for me. Seriously, I ordered 6 of each reds for the first year on mailing list (returned the order form within 4 working days once I received the mail), I was not expecting to get a full order, but I would at least expect them to provide a good mix of reds from their portfolio. Seeing other first year mailers got at least 3 different varieties (one of which were the $50 bottles) from their incomplete orders. I get frustrated just by thinking about turning to independent retailers and expect to pay $80 for a bottle of Malbec. :x

I guess I will just order 2-3 bottles of everything for the next 7 years before I move the rank, then I will increase the order quantity. :(

mse. I'm glad you got some of the wine you ordered.
As an aside, are you an only child, or did you have Christmas envy looking at your siblings presents?
There are a lot of sad faces in your posts about Wendouree - it is only a drink!

Hi Sa mule,
Thanks for cheering me up, I guess its just my "Doom and Gloom" character that I tend to feel a bit upset easily, especially for a low income (award wage) earner like me who is thrifty and not willing to pay extreme premium on the consumables (wines in this case).

By the way, sa mule, have you ordered Wendouree wines before? I attended a free tasting in a retailer, I reckon their wines were awesome!!! :)

mse, I agree it is tough when the retailers demand high prices for good yet uncommon wines, supply & demand I guess.
I have been buying Wendouree wines (3-4 bottles / year) at a local independant since 2009, for ~2.5x cellar door price - hence the limited bottle purchase.
I have also bought a few 10-15 year old cab & cab blends at Auction - prices of these are great & they are my preferred of the range.
1st year on the list this year I requested 4 of each.
CC charged for ~$350 so I guess I'll get the two blends you did.
I'm happy with that - a little piece of SA vino history!!
Cheers!

You'll do better next year. I have this theory that Lita and Tony treat their wines like their children and want everyone to like them all. They resent the fact that Shiraz is the favourite, like a beauty contest winner that every one wants, when all of them have their attractions. Which is why their favourite subscribers are the ones who want a bit of everything. I ordered three of each this year (after first ordering wines from the unloved 2011 vintage which were already great drinking on arrival) and got what I wanted. They are mainly concerned that the wines go to people who will appreciate them, not want them as trophies or to exploit for profits.

Unfortunately my friends order form was lost in the mail and our order was never received. We'll be getting a six pack of Shiraz Mataro as consolation but nothing else was available. :( Anyone wanna swap some Shiraz Mataro for Cab Malbec?!

The note attached to my border said that due to limited nalbec, both the cab/malbec and straight malbec were in short supply. Got 2 of everything else which was nice.

This was my first year on the list and only got on in August.
I ordered 6 each of the shiraz and cabernet.
I got a letter back saying they had none left but did have some of the shiraz mataro and shiraz malbec.

I called up, spoke a while and got a 6 pack of the shiraz mataro.

So I'm on the list.
I appreciate all forms of alcohol, as long as its wine.

Wow ! That kind of got out of control, didn't it? I need to remember next time that an innocent question about the Wendouree mailer can get out of hand....

Looks like most folk got what they asked for and even those new to the list got an allocation...lucky buggers. Now we just need a few of you to take one for the team and post some tasting notes.

For what it is worth, I managed to get most of what i was looking for but not quite the full volume, although as always with Wendouree, happy with what I got.

So as started this monstrosity, i feel it is my duty to also knock it on the head until next year.

First year on the list. I got 6 Shiraz/Mataro & 6 Shiraz/Malbec. I asked for 6 of everything. I'm happy enough to get anything.

We'll see what next year brings.

Spoke to soon, just received and only Shiraz Mataro and Shiraz Malbec for me. Oh well, looking forward to enjoying some new wines I haven't tried before and laying a few down, as well as moving up the pecking order next year hopefully!
