Melbourne Wine Bars
I will be travelling to Melbourne for work semi-frequently. Apparently we get put up at a hotel on Albert Park, occasionally somewhere on Flinders St.
Are there any good wine bars in the vicinity of Albert Park?
What are the best wine bars in the city (preferably not in the uber-expensive category sorry)?
Thanks in advance!
Michael

Re: Melbourne Wine Bars
In the city try
city wine shop on spring st
Kirks in hardware St
Punch lane top end (spring St end) of little Bourke
Von haus off Bourke across the lane from pellegrinis
Near Albert Park
Bellota - South Melbourne half way to Albert park from the cbd
Harry and Frankie in Port Melbourne
Brooks in the city has a great list but can be expensive and is more of a restaurant

Re: Melbourne Wine Bars
Neighbourhood wine bar in Carlton. New and awesome
Re: Melbourne Wine Bars
The Supper Club on Spring St is excellent. Wines available at every price point.
Havent been for a couple of years, but imagine its still the same.

I've been meaning to get to Neighbourhood wine but haven't yet. However it is north of the city so may not be easy to pop out to unless you are staying nights in Melbourne and tram/cab it back to your hotel.
If you do get to Carlton then Gerald's is a must.

Agreed that Gerald's is the best option, a short cab ride from town. City Wine Shop is downstairs from Supper Club, and a much better and more comfortable option for wine I reckon. I'd be very happy indeed to stop in there whenever the urge occurred!
Re: Melbourne Wine Bars
I'd add Movida Next Door (Corner of Hosier and Flinders St) to that list.
I've not been to either of them, but I suspect that you could do worse than the Albert park and Middle park hotels for food and wine
There are a bunch of South Melbourne pubs that used to be quite good - O'connells and Lamaros and the Wayside and the Fox on Montague (formerly Montagues) though the latter two have more of a craft beer focus these days.

they are part of Melbourne Pub Group, run by Paul Wilson, former Head Chef of well known "The Botanical"...

Can't comment about the wines from memory but the food is great gastro type of pub tucker.

Traveling to Melbourne semi frequently? It sounds like I need to move away from selling pens!
Try Bar Lourinha, not too far from Movida next door.

One of the chefs there @ Lourinha and me go back over 20 years... old friends.
Great tucker and place. Wine menu is mostly Italian/Spanish.
