Purchased two bottles at auction earlier this year out of curiosity, had never seen the label before, a great vintage, and a trustworthy producer.
First one was shot.
The last one I opened last week, and it was great. Typical Coonawarra Cabernet of 1990, lots of power and length, hallmark mintiness, pencil shavings and tobacco.
I think this actually may have been an export label.

May well be an export label - I've seen similar but not this exact iteration with the coloured highlights.

This was a fun wine to drink at 10 years of age. I thought I had more but haven't been able to locate them.

Secret handshake bro?

Interesting ... not sure it was an export label as I remember seeing it around when I used to be in Oz in the early 90's.
I never saw another vintage after 1990 which may have been because Wolf Blass were acquired by Mildara in 1991?
I assume it's all part of Wynns now in some shape of form.
Nice find anyway, I still have 4 bottles of Wynns Black Label from 1990. $10nzd from memory.

Michel, not at all oaky, but then again at 24 years of age one would expect any overt oak to be soaked up (especially by the powerfull 1990 fruit).
Thanks for the handshake Dave vino, hope that bottle is as good as my last one!

My experience is fruit drops out and oak dominates with age

Really? That hasn't been my experience, what are some examples you tried?
