Am I no longer a true Aussie?

So an Aussie just beat Nadal at Wimbledon, and I neglected to watch the last 2 sets in favour of the World Cup (I didn't realise he was Aussie and I thought Nadal would come back and smash him) ... and will be drinking English ale, a Californian Chardonnay, and perhaps some left over Red Bordeaux.

Troubling times for my national identity.

To make up for it I will surely be turning my hat backwards and in the immortal, eloquent words of Lleyton be supplying a good "c'mon" to young Kyrgios' next match! (And drinking something more Australian perhaps.... or maybe Pimms)

I should have updated my location: now in London, so served at correct cellar temperature. There was one place in Singapore that did a proper ale, but even with chilling it didn't quite work in the heat.

I am quite a fan of English Real Ale from a proper hand pump, and glad it has made a resurgence in the last few years. Certainly beats the crap out of the Fosters/Carling/generic lager that remains endlessly popular.

What are you drinking Sam? I so do miss my freshly pulled pint of ale, or better yet, gravity fed out of a keg on a rack behind the counter. Fresh, moreish and absolutely delicious.

We were very lucky to have a great brewery as our local producer down on the Dorset coast: Ringwood. Their 49er was a thing of beauty. The Best Bitter a true session beer. And their Old Thumper is... thumping! At Christmas you would drive into the brewery, grab a plastic flagon with bung and get freshly poured beer for your Chriisy break. Mmmmm, Porter.

One thing miss about UK is each area in country pubs sometimes have their own special ciders and ales if you know where to look. One pub might have this particular ale/cider, but few kilometres down the road, they will have something different from other local brewer.

Looking forward going back to the UK in November for 3 weeks holiday. Not sure about the weather, just going over for my baby sister's 30th birthday.

Plan to drink a lot of cheap European wines that we pay too much here in Australia.

I was strolling the area I am currently stayting in yesterday and lo and behold there was a local brewery - London Fields Brewery. Very nice stuff a Love Not War Red Ale, Three Weiss Monkeys IPA, and Hackney Hopster

Also good to find a pint of Black Sheep the other day, always one of my favourites
