Melbourne and Brisbane Rare Wine Dinners

Post by RedVelvet »

Melbourne and Brisbane Auswine friends we are attempting our first Rare Wine Dinners in Melbourne and Brisbane and we would love to have you join us. We are sure many of your have read the reports over the years about the dinners in Sydney and Perth and the fantastic provenance of our wines. We have put together a special selection of wines for each of these dinners and we are looking forward to providing the Rare Wine Dinners experience in your cities for the very first time. Friends in Melbourne and Brisbane this is your chance to experience it for yourself without having to travel to Sydney. Perth was so excited after our first visit that they have invited us back twice a year since and we hope Melbourne and Brisbane will too. Some of these wines/producers you may have heard of while others you may not know, this is not important, trust our experience and judgement and let Rare Wine Dinners take you on our journey into rare and vintage wine, you will not be disappointed. Full details are of course on the website: http://www.rarewinedinners.com

For anyone considering going, but wondering how legit these guys are...I will happily vouch for them and the wines. I've been to the Perth dinners as well as a couple in Sydney. Shannon is a gracious host and his wines are in amazing condition.

I first found out about the Rare Wine Dinners through this very forum a few years ago.

Is the Brisbane Dinner Friday 4th July or Thursday 3rd July?

Cheers
Ian
If you had to choose between drinking great wine or winning Lotto, which would you choose - Red or White?

Hi Ian,

Apologies for the confusion, Brisbane is Friday 4th of July. I have also edited the original post as well. Hope to see you there on the 4th.

Cheers
Shannon :)

Blatant Plug on their behalf.... :D Hope that's OK Gav.

C'Mon Melbourne People..... RWD are in town for the first time. This Friday Night, give the footy a miss, do yourselves a favour and get along to this!! More than half sold but a few more wine lovers still required... Impeccably cellared 1959 Hochfeine Auslese, 1929 Gevrey-Chambertin, 1967 Barolo, 1976 Beerenauslese and plenty of others plus a 5 course meal for under $300?? No-Brainer, I would have thought.

With the disclaimer that I am redsmurf's brother and redvelvet is a friend - that out of the way, I would also like to add that their wines are sourced from cold, private european cellars and they put on one hell of a good night. Shannon and Greg put a lot of effort into getting everything just right & really look after the guests.

The dinner price is a steal actually, I am half tempted to fly down there myself.

I am up respectably early after last night and all I can say is WOW! Amazing night put on by Shannon.

Will go through my notes a little later but I know I eventually gave up and just enjoyed the wines.

We will definitely be back in Melbourne Jonathan. Prob end of November and focus to be most likely on Burgundy.
