Hi Tim, sorry, didn't think to ask, I wasn't aware they did tastings pre release, I know Ben Radford is doing a tasting at Wine Culture in Roseville in early June, maybe there may be some '11 there.

Probably has quite a leafy taste no doubt......... :D

Cheers

I think I prefer leafy in my cheap wine to excessively sweet fruit bomb. :D

If the '11 BP is anything like some of the 2011 Shiraz's then it should be a very good wine. Many smaller producers were very careful with berry selection and disregarded anything not to standard. Some of the '11's I tried were delightful, like Greg Hobbs Gregor, and Charlie Melton's Grains of Paradise Shiraz so if they are anything to go by you will not be disappointed.

Hacker, do you have any thoughts on the 05 SVS's?
I purchased the 04s, thought they were pretty smart

Just trying to limit the damage ($$) at the moment.

Concur with the thoughts around 2011 for smaller wineries who were careful with fruit selection...Rockford are pretty confident about the 2011 BP.

Cheers Craig.

Hi Craig, both the Flaxman and Hoffman were powerful beasts, but the Flaxman was more pure fruited. The Hoffman had a little 'stemmy' nuance to it which detracted slightly from its overall presentation. I am being picky I suppose, but if you are looking to limit damage, go for just the Flaxman. It was the choice of my group as well.

Cheers,
David.

Leaves the 2000 for dead. No comparison. It sold out in a few weeks... I was hoping to get more at the winery next week. Alas...

1 x Jacobs Creek Limited Release 1996 (relabelled as the Johann from 2001+)

I see a few people availed themselves of the Cracka Tyrrell's Vat 8 deal then?

My May has been lean - leading up to the Tyrrell's release and planned trips:

6 x 2010 Tyrrell's Vat 8 (cracka deal worked out to $20 a bottle)
3 each of Tyrrell's 2013 Old Patch, Vat 6, Vat 8, Vat 9

Also highlights from April (I didn't post in April)
1 x 1994 Mount Edelstone
1 x 2002 Elderton Command
1 x 1991 Wynn's John Riddoch
1 x 1984 Wynn's John Riddoch
1 x 2012 Rockford Vine Vale Riesling (found in a bottle shop in Darwin!)

Weekend Visit to Clare Valley.
Went to the Grosset cellar door back tasting which comprised of;
2002 Grosset Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay
2002 Grosset Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir
2001 Grosset Gaia.
2003 Watervale riesling

Ended up with;
1 X 2012 Grosset Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay
1 X 2012 Grosset Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir
Almost bought a 2001 Gaia as it was seriously stunning but baulked at the $95.00 tag.
Probably regret it although there may be some left come september when they reopen.
Always good to have Jeffrey there to answer any questions. Super friendly bloke.

Also;
1 X 2012 Knappstein Watervale Ackland Riesling
2 X 2012 Knappstein The Mayor's Vineyard Shiraz
2 X 2012 Mount Horrocks Nero d'Avola (very interesting medium bodied italian varietal)
1 X 2013 Mount Horrocks Cordon Cut Riesling
1 X 2013 Mount Horrocks Watervale Riesling
1 X 2012 Mount Horrocks Sémillon
There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.

5 x 2010 Bannockburn Douglas

And

2 x 1996 Tahbilk Marsanne
2 x 1998 Tahbilk Marsanne

Had a bottle of the 2000 Marsanne over the weekend that was lovely and still has several years left, which gave me added incentive to pick these up at auction yesterday.
