I've recently bought a bottle of 66 Grange that's put away for my 50th birthday in a couple of years, the wine went through a Penfold's clinic in 1996 and passed, is there any good reason to re-check again at this year's clinic? Can a bottle be put through the clinic twice?
It would be nice to have an idea before the day if it's going to be a dud or not. Thanks.

You can only go through a clinic once. As long as you've looked after it, you should be fine.
I've got a 76 grange that I'm keen to run through a clinic. I don't think I'll go through this years clinic, as I don't want 09 grange in there with the 76. If they could top it up with 08, then I'd go.

Exactly right, it's a one shot deal only.
Once a bottle has passed through a clinic, it's not supposed to be presented again - if the bottle subsequently leaks, bad luck it has had its chance. If a bottle has a perfectly good fill level and no signs of leakage, it shouldn't be taken there in the first place.
Forget about goodness and mercy, they're gone.

Thank's guys,
Level looks good and no signs of leakage so with a bit of luck all will be good

Be rather ironic if the new cork that goes into a wine causes TCA.

Unfortunately, that is the risk of 'clinicing' (is that a verb?)
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

OK, so you've got one of the great vintages with a 40 year old cork in it and you'd rather wait for what? A leak?
I'd go back and revisit some of the reviews of the 2009 Grange before bookings open and weigh up the options again. IMHO..
