Sparkling for wedding
Sparkling for wedding
Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone can help with a few suggestions for a sparkling wine for my upcoming wedding in WA.
We are having a backyard cocktail reception and are looking to spend between $15 - $20-ish per bottle. It's probably going to be quite warm weather if that makes a difference.
We were hoping for something a little outside the box. I do enjoy Grant Burge but would love to try some other options. A friend suggested Stefano Lubiana Brut which I quite like and can get for a good price. Another suggestion was Vallformosa MVSA Cava which was also quite nice and easy to drink.
Does anyone have any other suggestions I could try?
Thanks

Hi mate
We used Dominique Portet Sparkling Rose for my brothers wedding earlier this year - we bought quite a bit (direct fro mthe winery) and they did it for about $25p/b

Hope this helps

Vintage Cellars stock the Caves de Lugny Cremant de Bourgogne for about $20 or less by the doz. It is a pretty good drop for the money.

This is one that has been suggested a few times. I will give it a try over the weekend.
I did try Jansz last weekend and found it to be tasty but a little too bubbly...not in a good way. I found after two glasses I had enough so wanted something that was a bit more drinkable over the course of the day.
Has anyone tried Charles Pelletier Grande Reserve? It has been suggested to me but I can't find it in Melbourne to try.
Re: Sparkling for wedding
I've always thought the Yarra Burn is good value,
Also the Brown Brothers Prosecco isn't bad either at the price.

Re: Sparkling for wedding
Will try Yarra Burn and Brown Brothers (Prosecco or Pinot Noir Chardonnay?)
Re: Sparkling for wedding
Was just about to suggest the BB PNC actually.

I'm definitely referring to the Prosecco, it would go great with canapés.

Re: Sparkling for wedding
Plantagenet will probably provide you with pretty good bubbly around $15 (pinot chardonnay), and can possibly also provide a sparkling shiraz for the same price. They would supply from their Fremantle premises.
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

Re: Sparkling for wedding
At this price point, some of the cremants can be good value. Might be worth a look at Simonnet-Febvre's Cremant de Bourgogne Brut (Dan's), about $18 I think + the L'Eglise Saint-Martin Blanquette de Limoux from the hills in the south of France is also unexpectedly balanced for $13, and made using the traditional method. Deutz is solid too.

Tried the Vallformosa MVSA last night and was not a fan.
Heading to Dan Murphy's for a taste of the below bubbles, I have a friend who is tight with some tazzie producers and she suggested these:
Bay of Fires Tigress
Blue Pyrenees (Yellow Label)
also
Petaluma NV
Dal Zotto Prosecco (sounds good)
Yarra Burn Vintage

Opps I meant Bay of Fires Tasmanian Cuvee not Tigress

Thanks Michael!
Another vote here for the vintage yarra burn...good value for money and quite drinkable over a full afternoon/evening....at least until the reds appear
