Just got an email from Tahbilk with $ 25 off my next purchase....... straight off to their website,

12 Tahbilk Premium Red's (Mystery Dozen) for $ 274

AT an average price of $ 22.83 per bottle delivered to my door, im pretty happy.

Remember Rossco - there's no such thing as too much wine. Do the maths - number drunk per week * 52 = year supply. You will always outlive the result.

Took a punt on 2 x 1983 Chateau Monbrison, Margaux, France for $25 a pop given one Cellartracker poster gave it 90 points in 2013...Wine Searcher suggests $64 US value.

Can any Bordeaux guru's tell me about this wine?

Hey all,
Has anyone tried the 2004 Dom Pérignon? Looking at opening up a few bottles for NYE and thought I'd get some feedback here first?

many thanks,

I've tried three bottles and really wasn't impressed with any. Some wine-swilling friends, who appreciate good bottles I open but are happy drinking $10 stuff, were quite dismayed. Not sure if I happened to strike a bad batch -- one came from a champagne tasting, served by a company rep, one was bought at Melbourne airport and another was a friend's purchase. Perhaps stock bought in other countries would be better than Australia's but I've been surprised by the good reviews for this.
NB: I import wine from 100 boutique producers in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, NZ and SA. You may think my opinions are biased ;-) As opinions are :-)

Regarding 2004 DP sourced from Australia...

I can only go from what I have seen / heard / tasted...but this vintage seems to have extreme bottle variability. I know of a couple of people who have opened several bottles each, with poor results. Often the corks appear to be very tight/hard...possibly a sign if poor storage/transportation conditions. The wines have rarely got the praise expected.

I'd be worried about splashing the cash. To be honest, even if you get a good one, it will not be at its peak for several years anyway!

Maybe hunt around for som Pol Roger 2002...it's still out there, and you can get 2 bottles for your $. Although I have not tried it, the 2004 is getting good reviews too.

I think Neville is right. The bottle I had in Oz was average and 5 of the 6 in the UK and US were excellent. Reminded me a bit of the 95 at release.

6 X 2010 Langhi Ghiran Cliff Edge - Saw that the 2011 was on the shelf. Given the quality of the 2011 vintage has anyone 'taken one for the team' with it yet? Anyone care to comment? Or should it be avoided?
1 x magnum Ziliken Rausch Auslese 2011
6 x Domaine Jules des Journeys - Fleurie, Moulin a Vent & L'interdit
6 X Ayler Riesling Fass 25 Trocken 2012
6 X Peter Lauer Ayler Kupp Riesling Fass 6 "Senior" 2012

Cheers
