Hi LGW,

Am a big fan of Ochota grenache, how good was the Fugazi 2013 and have you had any previous vintages to compare it to?

Nice purchase...should try the 2004 Belle Epoque also if you want something perfumed and pretty in the glass. Great looking bottle too.

Hi jimv, it was fugazingly good! I didn't take any notes at the time but it was a serious, elegant and nervy grenache. Fragrant and nicely structured. As you would know a different style to some of the bigger confectionary grenaches out there.

I've had the 2012 a while ago at another tasting but unfortunately, with my memory I would only be guessing comparing the two, sorry. :?

Taras also had the I am the owl Adelaide hill syrah on tasting. Again, beautifully elegant and well structured with great depth of flavour.

Me too, pretty bottle, but I have ALWAYS been underwhelmed.

What's that about, not sure?

My local South African wine merchant did a 10% off pre-xmas clearance so couldn't help myself:

1x Irvine Grand Merlot 2004
1x Elderton Command Shiraz 1999
1x Elderton Command Shiraz 2002
1x Schild Estate Shiraz 2010
1x Charles Cimicky Reserve Shiraz 2002
1x Jasper Hill Georgia's Paddock Shiraz 2005

I have never tried either a Jasper Hill or a Grand Merlot (or maybe once at Melb St) and I have also never had a Command Shiraz with age so really looking forward to getting into these....

7 - Cliff Edge Shiraz 2009. I know! I had thought that they had all disappeared from the shelves long ago.

Cheers, Travis.

I'd maybe say the Hoddles, Braemore and Drumborg on this list would be in my top 5 new release whites i have tasted this year (at a reasonable price!). You will be buying more of the Chardonnay...you can never have enough! The Grailot Syrah on the othe hand may be Mr Halliday's most overrated wine so far! There have been, how shall we say, many "differing views" on this wine. I'd love to hear your thoughts when you open it.

Thanks for the feedback simon1980! In relation to the Grailot Syrah, should be interesting to see whether it lives up to the Halliday hype. Just out of interest, have any of the notable critics taken a different view on this one? Cheers.

Now you've read, I'll remove them - would hate Gav to get in trouble for the reposting of someone else's IP.

Also, I don't claim to be an expert of IP law, but I would have thought the Fair Dealing exceptions under the Copyright Act would allow your original post on the basis it was for the purpose of criticism or review.

Also a bit moot to remove these as I already discussed the divergent views on this Graillot Syrah 2011 with full notes in a much earlier post :P
