Adelaide Halloween theme offline next week?

Post by n4sir »

Hi all,

I know it's short notice, but would anyone in Adelaide be interested in a "bring out your dead" type offline for sometime next week, probably Tuesday night?

A few of us kicked a couple of ideas around and this one came up - venue TBD, will probably choose something with minimal corkage to allow for quite a casualties (bottles that is) so I guess it will be somewhere around Chinatown, maybe Park Lok?

While this is getting towards the "Dead Reds" group's territory, it seems like a potentially fun theme to tie in with Halloween. For those who can't find seriously old bottles, maybe an alternative could be dead or zombie labels - ie. once proud wines that have either been totally killed off by the corporates, or turned into virtual labels after being stripped of people, vineyards & equipment.

Cheers,
Ian

Unfortunately a combination of ridiculous work hours and post-wedding finances means that we're out :( Have fun though!

Drink the wine, not the label.

I've got a few things in mind, a 1983 Trimbach VT Gewurztraminer for starters, then a few old Aussie reds to choose from...

...eighties, seventies or sixties, decisions, decisions. Maybe I'll just keep opening bottles up 'til we strike gold.

Okay, venue is to be Park Lok, 7pm for 7:30 start.

No real need to book (although it would be nice let us know you're coming).

Cheers,
Ian

No problems Chi.

Duane & Bec have emailed me they're in with something like a 1993 Guigal Cotes Du Rhone, 1995 Faiveley Bourgogne or an old Elizabeth Semillon from somewhere around 1992. Since Duane is there I think I'll drag out a 1975 Quelltaler Wyatt Earp VP too, a legendary local port he's never tried but one that I've never had much luck with.

Jeff's in as well with a 2006/2008 Shiraz from a recently extinct McLaren Vale label, and a Rothbury Black Label Semillon.

Cheers,
Ian
