I like Little Creatures Pale Ale, Johnston Oakbank, Knapstein and Moo Brew on occasions (clove heavy). Enjoyed Vale Ale recently.

Your thoughts for an enjoyable, and experimental, summer.

Ah Coopers sparkling, you have no idea my excitement to discover there is a cafe/bar just up the river from where I am now living that sells both Coopers Pale and Sparkling! (and Toby's estate coffee too, for when its still before 9am)

Don't know if you can get it in Adelaide but try the Lord Nelson Three Sheets if you like the other pale ales... also seek out Murray's Brewery beers... whichever you can get... they are the best in Australia (imho of course)...

I think the Lobethal Bierhaus make a nice IPA.
If you want to try something a little out there grab a Trappistes Rochefort 10.
Very dark chocolate, raisin like taste. Crazy smooth.
1 or 2 at the most before perhaps going onto something lighter .

My local has Carlsberg Elephant (7.2%) for $56 a case. I can't drink much beer but this is very good to my taste. A case lasts me quite a long time.

I tend to drink more of the American IPAs. Sierra Nevada in particular..lovely use of american hops. So much citrusy grapefruity bitter goodness! Their Pale Ale can be found for around $20 a 6pk and is perfect for summer drinking

Pilsner Urquell, Calrsberg Elephant, Knappstien Lager, Coopers Sparkling Ale, James Squire India Pale Ale, Budvar Budejovicky. Pale ales pale for me, blondes are bleached and drys are beached. Konig Pilsner was a staple for several years but Coles no longer stocks it.

+1 for the Sierra Nevada Pale (and their others if you can find them). And any fan of a good pale ale should try a Feral Hop Hog....

Sierra are good, Pale Ale or Torpedo, also really enjoy their Ruthless Rye when in season (as it is now! not cheap though). Big fan of German Kristall Weissbiers (Franziskaner, Weihestephaner etc). Pilsner Urquell or Trumer Pils for a BBQ session beer, also Stone & Wood Pacific Ale or Lager. The Vale IPA is really good for my tastes too. I enjoy most of my beers from a big wine glass, other than the pilsners and fresh lagers which are best from bottle IMHO. So many great beers out there! Of course a lot of wishy washy jump on the bandwagon stuff too. Wish we saw more of the Kiwi stuff here, Renaissance, Epic etc... Mmmmm, they're good.

+3 for Sierra Nevada... good reminder, I forgot the big chain we do not name now stocks them ... Melbourne St cellars also has their full range including the Ruthless Rye & a suprisingly good range of beer all round... (apologies Gavin, but I am pretty sure you dont sell beer)

I forget Lobethal, another good tip... my other all-time key recommendation is Grumpys ... I am sure all you Adelaide-ites have been there, but the pizzas and quality ales are superb, in my Australia wide top 3, and my AU/NZ Top 5 (NZ also has some excellent boutique beers, but often hard to find in Aus... keep an eye out for Moa they appear to be importing more now)

My favorite beer of the year so far has been La Sirene saison sour - So refreshing for summer! They have been setting up a new brewery so I'm hoping they are back in action soon so that there will be some around when the weather heats up.
My fridge staple is Two Birds Sunset Ale.
Rodenbach Grand Cru Flemish Red is a fantastic beer.
Mornington Peninsula Brewery will have their seasonal sorachi kolsch out soon which is great for summer. If you can get hold of their Porter or Russian Imperial Stout they are both fantastic too.
Kooinda American Pale and Bridge Road Pale are excellent, as are the rest of their ranges.
From Hopdog Beerworks. Horns up and the Redhopulus
US brewery Founders have some great beers for a similar amount to the Sierra Nevada. I haven't had a bad one yet.

I've got plenty more but that will do for now

I believe I recognise the poster from another Forum. As it was written 4 years ago, I'd like to believe he has now seen the light!
My favourite beer this summer was Wainwright's Little Bewdy, available at the Old Trafford Test, until the members drank it dry after 2 days.

Sierra is good, but look out for some stunning NZ examples.

8 wired, liberty, epic, emersons; probably the top four.

I've never actually had the Epic lager but their others are all stunning.

I'm pretty sure I have seen Epic in either Adelaide or Tasmania and not bad prices either.

Agreed on the Asahi. Really does need to be nice and cold. I'm not a big beer drinker, but it is my go to beer. I also quite like Peroni Leggeria as well for a lower alcohol beer.

Nice one burgster, awesome foursome. 8 Wired rarely miss, and Epic Pale Ale is superb.

And for all round value and sessionability, I'm a big fan of Hoegaarden too. $45 a case at my local, distant expiry date, happy days.

Yes, I would probably rate 8 wired top as across their whole range they are very consistent.

Amazing that Marlborough is tops for wine and beer.

There is a very good Renaissance brew called MPA but I doubt you would see that over there.

I have recently discovered Liberty from the Taranaki and that is impressive as well.

And hard to beat Epic Pale Ale for value and quality.

I was disappointed by Coopers Pale Ale, it paled in comparison to the Sparkling Ale. Coopers Celebration 150 years beer was pretty good too.
