I think you might be pushing things a bit with the 97 H. I drank a lot of these wines, the last of the 96 about 2 years ago, and it was at the end. The 97 H cab was good.

Bought from auction recently I too thought they may be a bit tired Brucer but took a gamble as they were from a cellar of known providence. First one was OK but 2nd was really singing. 3rd will be a lottery as are all older wines under cork. At $14 it was worth the chance. Haselgrove also put out an H Reserve shiraz in the 90's which were stunners. Picked up a double magnum of the '96 a loooong time ago and it was magic.

Thats crazy. I kept a double magnum of 96 H shiraz for my 50th in 2007. It was sensational. I still have the bottle here.
The 96 outlived the 98.

I have currently been buying old Shirvington wines from Langtons. 03 and 04 cabernet, and 04,05 and 06 shiraz. Very fine McV wines, at about half price. A few cork problems, but I have taken that into account.
High alcohol, big rich wines, but not dead fruit. The 04s are something else.

Up to 18 in the cellar now, this one is going to pay me back in spades.

After loving the 2006 for many years, I cracked a 2010 a few weeks back, and was very happy with it, very happy indeed.

I vowed not to buy any more 2005 Champagnes, but broke the promise and grabbed a 6-pack of Cristal at a good price. Its much better than most champers from the vintage and should be good drinking for the next 10 years.

Is there any vintage that Crystal isn'tproduced any more!?

Never tried Bellarmine wines but it'd be hard to go wrong with Wilson Vineyard Rieslings.

I don't recall seeing a 2001 (only a handful of producers declared) or 2003 (really hot year where some houses such as Bollinger released a one-off label, others didn't release at all, and some produced ok champagnes - Dom P for example). It will be interesting to see if they release a 2007 - a fairly forgettable year.

That said, Cris isn't my favourite tete de cuvee by any stretch. I just bought it in case I befriend some old-school rappers - the younger ones are on to Ace of Spades.

Never heard or Bellarmine until I came across to the 2011 vintage...It's just really good drop. Schumachers of the Bellarmine make their wines in german style, so it's interesting to see German styled wines with bit of Aussie twist. If your into German Rieslings, and also love good Aussie Rieslings, you should check out Bellarmine, I believe you won't be disappointed. Seriously underrated and high quality winery.

Not a purchase...but a trade, traded with a former workmate for few of my unwanted crap at my previous home to save hassle with interstate move:

1 x 2002 Penfolds Bin 389
1 x 2003 Penfolds Bin 389
1 x 2004 Penfolds Bin 389
1 x 2005 Penfolds Bin 389
1 x 2006 Penfolds Bin 389

First time having Pennies in my cellar for a fair while...

A couple of dozen Normans private bin numbers for my son's engagement party - servicable for around $7 a bottle after I flogged the free cartons of Guinness that came with them!
2 cartons of Tahbilk from the winery - one semillon and the other a Chairman's selection where they allowed me to swap some chardys and masannes for some sparkling shirazes for a few extra bucks.
A dozen Hardy Thomas Hardy 2002 cabernet sauvignon from auction - hard to find many reviews for this wine but at $40 a bottle, I figure it's pretty good value (loved the 1996).
If you can remember what a wine is like the next day you didn't drink enough of it

3x Kay's Block 6 Shiraz 2010
3x Kay's Hillside Shiraz 2010

Halliday suggests a drinking window for the Block 6 of Now to 2050, and 2035 for the Hillside, so I figure they should keep fine till I am back in Oz!

Oh lord I just for the grosset spring mailer as well, this could be an expensive week!

Not sure if you have tried the Wilson Polish Hill from 2013 yet? It's bad! Very bad! The flavour is like soap and nothing like the previous vintage.

That was my first impression Winelove, but gave it time, it didn't have that soap or anything you mention, just find it heavy. Better check other bottle and compare. Didn't think it was that "Bad"...just different. Out of curiousity, where did you tasted the 2013 Vintage? At home? Resturant? at the winery? etc?

Opened other bottle of 2013 Wilson Vineyard Polish Hill, it was just fine. Just pretty good drop, different to the 2012 vintage for sure. Like crunchy pear notes, with more limey notes than citrus. Wonder if your wine glasses was rinised/washed properly? I recall visiting group of friends, all the wines tasted bit soapy because the friend's missus doesn't drink wines and didn't wash and rinised the wine glasses off well enough. lol. Just heavier than the 2012 vintage for sure IMO. Others may disagree.

Have made up for the little hiatus in purchasing

3 x 2010 Spinifex Indigene
6 x 2010 Spinifex Esprit
3 x 2010 Rockford Basket Press
2 x 2010 Yangarra Ironheart Shiraz
6 x 2010 Seppelt Chalambar
2 x 2010 Penfolds RWT
6 x 2010 Majella Cab Sauv
2 x 2010 Cullen Diana Madeleine
12 x 2012 Teusner Riebke
4 x 2010 John George Cabernet Sauvignon
2 x 2010 Moss Wood Cabernet
6 x 2012 Head Red Shiraz
2 x 2010 Kay Brothers Block 6 Shiraz
3 x 2010 Standish Schubert Theorem
3 x 2010 Standish Andelmonde

And then finally made it back to the Barossa for about 4 hours on Sunday afternoon after getting a project over the line in Adelaide. Made it to Torbreck, Artisans and Rockford. Finally got there to put my "expression of interest" in to them. We got to the Rockford cellar door at about five to five. They were about to put the closed sign up so that was a relief!

2 x 2011 Torbreck Juveniles - just like a Guigal CdR
2 x 2010 Torbreck Kyloe
3 x 2010 Torbreck Celts
1 x 2009 Torbreck Factor
2 x 2010 Torbreck RunRig
2 x 2010 Torbreck Highland Fling

Nothing at Artisans although most of what they had was pretty good. Greg Hobbs was the winemaker onsite that day

Finally finished off with

3 x 2004 Rockford Rifle Range Cabernet
3 x 2009 Rockford Moppa Springs
