At times i hear of this term being used from whom i would say are 'novice' drinkers.[ no disrespect ]
"Look it has legs".....my wifes Aunty says.
I guess ive always thought it to be pretty much irrelevant to wine and glassware.
Yet reading N4SIR's wine reviews over the years i notice that he too comments on this element at times.
Is there any substantial evidence that it means something to the wines structure? etc
Can anybody shed light??

Legs on the Glass......?????
Re: Legs on the Glass......?????
Hey Ross
I always understand this to be a reflection of high alcohol content ... and consulting the Encyclopedia Internetica it seems this is in fact the case

Re: Legs on the Glass......?????
The more alcohol our residual sugar in the wine will result in more 'legs' as the wine sticks to the glass due to surface tension of the liquid.
Does this have any indication on quality....no
As for structure...well it could indicate higher alcohol content or more residual sugar. Does this mean better quality as suggested above....no as this must always be taken into consideration of the wine at hand.
The only thing you should be worried about legs on is the opposite sex....or I guess the same if you are such inclined....but not wine

Yep, this and the other previous posts do a pretty good job explaining the term.
Forget about goodness and mercy, they're gone.

Or else the wine on her legs............but that's a whole different story and maybe not for a wine forum.
