Another 4 dozen eclectic wines on the way apparently. 2 dozen cleanskins from a major player in the vale that is going to be changing hands very soon.
Lots and lots of Head wines. Red Shiraz / Red GSM / Old Vine Grenache / Riesling... First taste of Red Shiraz suggests I will be going back for more. I'm not a PR person for Alex, but maybe I should be!

Not sure, but I think this is an export wine that sometimes doesn't get shipped. I bought some 2007 a year ago or more for about $25. Very nice wine but didn't take any notes.

I'm having my first dabble at buying at Langtons, so wish me luck. We sold a shed load of our stuff through them about 7 years ago when we were living in the UK, but this is our first time as potential buyers. Hmmmmm....

It's actually declassified fruit from their premium wines. I got a 6 pack of the '08 @ $25 but haven't actually tried one yet. I'm not buying many '11's unless I've tasted them first, except for the must buys to stay on lists etc. Having said that, the 2011's I've tried from Torbreck (the Fish and the Struie, both with declassified fruit as well) were both quite good. But @ $40 a bottle I'd be a little hesitant to be honest, unless reviewed by a trusted palate.

Hi Travis. I have not had it before. I was looking for some spanish wine because with a few exceptions all the spanish wines I've tried have been very good. So I went on a bit of a scouting mission and compared the local chain stores stock with cellar tracker reviews/tasting notes and this was one of the best at a reasonable price. It sounds like my slightly unorthodox wine selection process is looking pretty good. If you have any other recommendations for good quality spanish wine that will not send my credit card into cardiac arrest, I'd be grateful for some tips.

Looking forward to seeing them. We had a hj reserve 02 about 6 weeks ago ( 1 left ) and it was brilliant - still very fresh just teetering on some tertiary flavours showing their face. Always loved their standard Shiraz however and love their Grenache blends even more. And the staff at cellar door are fantastic.

Now, I know we don't normally talk about prices on here, but on this occasion...the Seppelt was $36 delivered. Clearly a decision was made to "get rid at any cost". I have tried one, and whilst it may not be the greatest wine ever, it is a pretty decent Riesling, with the age showing nicely. Slight bitterness on the finish detracts...

Museum stock released for the long weekend - the 4 acres was astonishing. Complex, brooding, radiant crimson and purple colours in varying light. Plenty of leather, meat, earth etc. just a fantastic wine. The Vat 6 was in great shape, opened a bottle that night and it was right where it needs to be - will open the other within 3 months.

bought some a year or so back - mystery wine around $30 but tried one and sent it back - didn't think it was worth it.

Yeah bit exy - best Hunter I've had though. I think Tyrrell's are starting to market this one as a rival to Graveyard. It seems to do much better on secondary markets than any of their other wines.

If its anything like the 2004 I had a while back then you are in for a treat. It was one of the best reds I've had period. 12.9% alcohol which is amazing thesedays.
In general, how readily available is 4 Acres at the CD? Assuming they have it for sale at all, do they make you join the Private Bin club?
It's usually a private bin club purchase. it is pretty limited, so I'd imagine it doesn't make it past the members! The weekend's sale was a bit of a one off - they needed room in the museum, so they released a few cases to the cellar door - 05 Vat 6, 63 and 4 Acres - 04 Vat 8 - 02 Vat 18 (Belford Semillon). There was another too, but I've forgotten now.
