CellarTracker - Who uses it, what's your handle?

Post by dan_smee »

Anyone else use CellarTracker to monitor their cellar / catalogue their notes?

My handle is dan_smee - have a small collection (130ish bottles), interested in seeing what's in peoples cellars. Always fun going through people's notes and cellars to find some recommendations.

Hi Dan,

I use CellarTracker to track wines / drinking windows. My handle is "bdellabosca" same as for this forum but I have my privacy settings so that only "Friends" can see my wines. Happy to tag individual Auswine Forumites who are on CellarTracker as "Friends" if anyone is interested.

Cheers
Ben

I find CT a most reliable source of information (sorting the wheat from the chaff is not so hard) and for the smallest annual fee you can access some great (normally expensive subscription only) sites for reviews and commentary. Eric Levine deserves a medal!

Unfortunately, I have not uploaded my wine's as yet, although some time ago I started uploading my tasting notes, a job I should finish some time.

Discoduckglue

I have around 280 bottles registered although I am relatively lazy as far as adding wines to the cellar stock. I would probably only add one note per 6-10 wines I drink but I do find it a bit of fun and especially enjoy reading others notes.

Thanks all.

I find it useful when selecting wines to drink - just jump online while I'm still at work and pick something out. Also good to discover new things.

Used it for about a year, great resource/tool.

Also use the Corkz iPhone app, which links to CT - great combo, helps choose what to drink & an easy way to check reviews, etc.
I'll drink to that :)

The Corkz iphone App is a winner when you're out and about in wine country. Quite often at any given CD I've had to pull out the iphone and see what's resting at home before I buy up. I've used CT for about 2 years. Probably don't write enough TNs but it's great for keeping everything in order. Was a bit of fun to key in my 'wish list'.

I use it. About 280 bottles in there. I'm also a bit lazy with the tasting notes though.

handle is wp_drinkers.

I find it useful for the reasons others have listed, as well as knowing where a certain wine is in my fridge. I'll use CT to figure out what I want to drink and then know where in the fridge to find it.

malliemcg is me on CT. I have around the 250 bottle, have been super lazy of late re: notes, typically use it to keep track of what I have, what's been consumed and what needs to be consumed.

I use it, my handle is lisdillon72 .

It's a pretty good resource both from the perspective of monitoring your own wines, and looking at new wines to purchase, particularly European wines. It's also fun to read notes from others overseas about Australian wines, fortunately it's slowly dawning on people that there is more to Australian wine than fruit bomb shirazes and over oaked chardonnay.

However I seriously need to do a stocktake as I'm pretty sure I don't have 370 bottles. On the other hand...

Just saw your picture. Didn't realise it was your article re the 52 Stephen Shiraz. Found it searching for O'Shea wines that may still be kicking around somewhere. Good read :D

use it particularly for seeing new reviews of wines that I hold, great tool. I have been a poor contributor though. Handle = craigstan

It's a great tool for not too much money. You really have to learn whose tasting notes to keep an eye on though.

If you had to choose between drinking great wine or winning Lotto, which would you choose - Red or White?

You legend, c'mon Cam, you're sitting on 4,999. I sense an imminent 1929 Drouhin Clos de Vougeot Burgundy note in your future.... Gotta make the 5k note a decent wine!!

Folks

I use CT extensively, with the same moniker as here.

I use it as my cellar record for my ~430 wines and their locations in my two large wine fridges. I've done about 300 reviews and find other reviews interesting and sometimes useful. It's not hard to find some reviewers with similar tastes.

I'd need to use something to keep track of my wines and help with wine selection. Overall, I'm happy with the product.

I'd be interested to know how many people who've said they use it, have made some/any level of financial contribution, noting that it does say payment recommended in big red letters when one logs on.

I will admit to being a free rider, although if a minimal cost was set, as opposed to a volunteer system, I'd probably pay as it's a pretty nifty system.

DD,

I've made two annual payments at the recommended level for the size of my cellar.

At first I free-loaded. However, given how useful and much I use it, I pay a small amount annually.

I'm in as scribbler007.
I haven't added my collection, or made any notes.
I found it useful for looking up tasting notes on particular wines, BUT haven't succesfully managed to use the pro notes for sites I subscribe to; I just can't seem to make it work (probably need soemone to talk me through - the help and online guide is way too cryptic for me. If I got this to work I'd be happy to pay.
