Thinking about opening 86 Grange and 96 HoG...

Any experiences with either wine lately? The 96 Hill of Grace is one of the best shiraz I've ever tasted, but that was two years ago and I'd hate for the wine to be shut down tight. Help me make an informed decision

Now there is a first.

The 86 Grange is terrific but decant prior. I only have one 96 HoG but am leaving it alone for some time, the 96 Mt E has only just started to enter its drinking window.

I'll decant the Grange and leave the HoG alone another couple of years. Assuming I can find a Grange-worthy BYO tonight, I'll post impressions soon.

I watched some Japanese buisnessmen drinking Grange with Hamburgers in Byron a couple of years ago..the thing that got me was they mixed it with COKE!!!!!!!!!

I can't rmemeber what it's called ( starts with c? ), but this is very common practice in Spain, though thankfully it's usually a cheap local red wine that suffers the fate, not Grange A few years back, a friend-of-a-friend who was either pining for Spain or trying to convince everybody of his supreme worldliness performed this same trick with a 1994 Magill that I had bought for dinner. I think he enjoyed it, and that was I suppose, the point of the wine...so I let it go with as little fuss as I could manage

Shame your HofG wasn't an 86! Would be perfect.

Although quite approachable in youth, HofG from exceptional vintages, like 96, benefits 10 to 15 years. If you open the 96 you will know what i mean.

Good to see people drinking their HofG. Notes few and far between and usually notes on HofG too early for drinking.

Having a bottle of 94 HofG tomorrow! Too early I know, but promised a mate we would try the wine and my precious stocks of the late 80's and early 90's mature HofG limited.
