New Forumite

Post by Krillian »

Hello all,

I have been using this forum as a lurker for 2 years. I have been drinking wine for around 3 years. I have looked a many tasting notes, weekly purchases, forum searches and general topics over this time and I feel it it time to post topic number 1 in honour of the great stuff that comes from here. I have gained from this forum....
- Trying Botique wineries that are off the beaten track that Ive visted subsequent to reading posts here. Some personal favs include Marius, Samuels Gorge, Grosset, Shaw + Smith, Mount Langhi, Torbreck...
- I have picked grapes at Marius winery in SA due to purchasing wines recommended from this forum. Events transpired that I spent a day picking grapes from the producer I purchased a doz off!
- Gained experience from others writings about wines and styles. (tried some Grosset rieslings as a first white wine that had me at 'hello')
- Found wines to try based on favourable postings here!

This is a great forum and great to post here for number 1. I will continue to read your posts and perhaps one day will post my own 'notes' when I learn a little more about wines.

Cheers

Sam

Hi Sam,
As I am a relative newcomer as well, welcome to the forum. Like you my knowledge is limited, and have been reviewing and absorbing other contributions from some very experienced forumites. However I think everyone is interested from any contributions you can make. I have found everyone is respectful and any input is appreciated.

Regards

Phil

Welcome to the Forum. You seem enthusiastic and willing to experiment, perfect ingredients for learning about wine and, more importantly, enjoying it. No matter what anyone says we all continue to learn about wine as we go along so you're no different than the rest of us, just earlier in the journey.

Cheers.......................Mahmoud.
