Sounds like a future idea for a theme we floated at the last offline... go hard or go home.

I like this theme. It suits the slightly pricier venue too.

As usual, the impending wedding coupled with salary constraints and an unimpressive cellar may see me struggle a bit (I'm seriously looking forward to a 'best bang for your buck' theme sometime!), so I'm open to reasonably priced suggestions of what to bring!

Thanks to Mark Jappe for the heads up. Nearly missed the boat!

Count me in for the offline. A few wine options:

Mt Mary Pinot 2000
Henschke Mt Edelstone 1992
Rockford SVS Moorooroo 1996
Chateau La Louviere 2000
Domaine Tampier "La Miguoa" 1998
Penfolds Bin 389 1990

Let me know what you'd like me to bring along.

Given the theme, you might have to stretch the budget a little. Maybe one of the cheaper vintage champagnes like lanson.

As for me, I am leaning towards any two of a Wynn's Centenary, a 96 Mt Mary Pinot or whatever vintage champagne strikes my fancy on the day (maybe a Palmes D'Or rose). I am a trifle limited at the moment unless I can make time to get up to the tunnels. Any preferences?

Well I've never had the pleasure of drinking a Centenary... that's my vote!

Sounds like we're setting up for another "let's find something to knock the Centenary off its perch" attempt.

I think I'll bring the 389 and see how it stacks up against the Wynns.

Oh, and count me in for the dinner.

Hi guys!

Haven't been on the forum recently due to work etc. But to my surprise I saw this when logging on.

Is it too late to join the party? I may also have a +1 if that's OK?

Not sure what I'll bring but will throw up some alternatives in the next day or so.

P.S hope things are improving health wise Ian.

Cheers,
Tony

Oh, Mark. Can you ask them if I can drop my bottle off at their restaurant ASAP? I have nowhere to keep it here and I want to give it every chance.

Panda, I am sure it won't be a problem. Just ask for Chi. I am pretty sure he is working today.

Hi all,

I'm not sure if Jas and I will be able to make it on second thoughts, as it will be Passover, which means that I can't eat anything with wheat, corn, rice or other grains in it (which I'm assuming won't be the easiest thing in the world to accommodate)!

I might stop by to say 'Hi' to Panda though if I can!

I feel bad for offering my vote all the time,so don't listen to me if you don't like. But I'm itching to try either the Beaucastel or the Wendouree.

Kickass. I dropped my bottle off today and picked up an 04 E&E Sparkling Shiraz as my other thing. Might seem like a pedestrian choice but I love this stuff.

Not at all ... one of the best red sparkler's I've tried in recent years. Prefer it to the Rockford and on a close thing with the Joseph (although differing stylistically).
