2010 Viña Christina Cordillero Monastrell, Jumilla (cork): 12.0% alc. Light, ruby red colour. The first whiffs are quite attractive, maraschino cherries, stalks, mint, boot polish and white pepper, a little tanned hide but nothing too feral, some earthy, black liquorice and vegetal notes in the background. The entry is surprisingly very sweet, grapey and a little porty, even a touch of sultana – at this point I have to wonder what’s the residual sugar in this, a thought also fuelled after observing a spritz of tiny bubbles appearing at the wine’s edge with the bottle. The palate is (at most) medium-weight, with a dry mid-palate, fine tannins and a sweet, minty finish. Acidity seems to be on the low side indicating a drink-now prospect, something backed up by the unimpressive cork. Not really my style, but still interesting.
Cheers,
Ian

Doesn't sound worth trying, let alone buying.

There are a number of good Jumilla wines here in my area but one has to watch out for the non-traditional fruit bombs. This one seems way to baked imo.
