Hello everyone from a long time reader.
Just thought I would say "HI!" before I start posting bits and bobs... it's only polite.
I know a few of you blokes/blokettes from a certain Pommy wine forum, but now that we are back in Oz after almost 1.5 decades of living in England I have been getting back into the Aussie wines, so a forum like this is great.
So, here are a few favourite wine aspects so that when I spout some rubbish on here, you know where it's coming from.
White Aussie Wine: Clare Riesling (Aged Hunter Semillon a close second)
Red Aussie Wine: Coonawarra Cab (Cool climate Vic Shiraz)
Euro Red Wines: Rioja (Old Skool Style), North Italy (Vino Nobile de Montepulciano), North Rhone (as much as my wallet has let me taste), Chinon (Seriously) and the elusive, beautiful Burgundy.
Euro White Wines: Mosel (young and old), Burg (wallet permitting), and Rioja (Older the better).
Outliers: Rutherglen Muscat, Sherry, Madeira and Ringwood Best Bitter.
Ones I just can't get me head around: Southern Rhone, Champagne, Mclaren Vale Reds, The Americas and South Africa.
Anyways, back to the cricket. Another one has gone!
Cheers, Travis.

Nice note, welcome Travis!
I'm into Euro gear too, just not always easy to buy with the wonderful taxation applied here

It's no wonder Australians have, on average, a rather parochial attitude to wine. When you can barely buy a bare-bones Cote-du-Rhone for $20, no wonder it looks shoddy against the sweet stuff on sale locally for $15. And sadly, with the idiot WET being applied on value, Euro-wine that should really be lining up against, say, Pyrus, is well north of 3 figures. It's really rather annoying.
Can't believe I hadn't seen Travis here before. Anyway, welcome.
cheers,
Graeme
Re: G'day everyone.
Carl - I can't believe Mark hasn't posted a witty remark by now.
Bob - Howdy Bob. I did mention a few Aussie wines as well... but no Canadian ones.
Gavin - There certainly seems more Euro wines available ccompared to the mid-late 90s. Are you selling more year-on-year Gavin? What's going to happen when the Aussie dollar goes back down a little?
Graeme - It took me awhile to think up yet another password.
Mmmm... new emoticons.
Cheers, Travis.

Took your time, Travis.
Good to see a name check for Ringwood Best, though Forty Niner remains a notch better.
