Hi Ian

were you down for the Rockford Golf day?....if so, how was it, and do they have much SVS left?
Interesting Gomersal Shiraz recommendation, never tried any of their wines but am down there for a couple of days soon so will add them to the hit-list.

Cheers
Michael

Michael,

Yes we went down for the Rockford golf day. Had a blast. I'll write a report on the golf day when I get some spare time. I'm not sure how much SVS they have left. They released them a couple of months ago and when I rang to make sure they would have some left come golf day time, they reassured me there would be heaps left. I missed out on the '02's by a week and that really cheesed me a little.

As for the '09 Gomersal Shiraz, it is the best young shiraz I've tried in a long time. And it had only been in bottle for a couple of weeks. It's just so smooth and well balanced. It's seen over 30 months in oak (30% new I think, but could be wrong as the memory was a little blurry by that stage) and is drinking just incredibly well right now, but should last for at least 10 years. If you go, ask for Barry. He's the winemaker and owner. A real character and a top bloke.

Cheers
Ian

I've really enjoyed Mojo by Rockbare Barossa Shiraz in the past, the 2009 and particularly the 2010, so I bought a bottle of the newly available 2011 to try.

Have to say I'm not liking it, some very sharp acid and tannin at this point. Some rich dark fruit behind, so might improve once it softens up a bit. I never tasted the previous vintages as young, so interesting to wonder if they started this way too.

Could well be but it also could be the start of the 2011 howlers!

12 x O'Leary Walker Polish Hill 2008 (25% off, then a £20 voucher helps).

Nice wine, Aussie riesling is still great value. Been drinking loads of Tim Adams Clare Riesling 2007 as the daily drink ...

I've got 6 of these too, and there's still no info online about them. They popped up again in the Hunter cellar door Xmas mailing list.

Interested to see how they develop & if there's a reserve bin next year too. Start a thread if you open one :)
I'll drink to that :)
