Auckland Charity "Offline" - 10 Year Eileen Hardy Vertical
Guys
I have a 10 year Eileen Hardy Shiraz vertical which I am planning on donating to raise funds for Mental Health supporting a initiative driven by Malcolm Law who is an ultra trail running athlete. In a couple of months time he is attempting to run the 1014km coastal path in England in 14 days to raise funds and increase awareness for Mental Health. Some of you may see the irony in running 1000+km for mental health charity. I certainly do

Anyway I have a 10 year vertical 1993-2002. I am going to open them all, take $60 from each of the <>14 attendees and donate the proceeds to this cause. Small half glass of each of the 10 vintages
Date: Sunday 3rd June afternoon (probably a 1pm kick off)
Location: Probably my place
Format: Informal, this wont be a wine wanker event. Probably serve a pair of glasses at a time x5
Spitoons: No
Food: I will provide some cheeses etc but hopefully most people can contribute something small to fight the tannins.
Any interest PM me quickly. I would say between my wine loving trail running friends, other friends and family I will receive a greater subscription than places available
Thanks

I was thinking the same thing, what a great idea!
Not sure if the irony is deliberate there... but ... you are a piece of neck jewellery?

Should be fun. If I was there I could have provided a 1990 Eileen Hardy. Don't forget to post some notes.

Quick impressions I took no notes. The audience was such that it was just an afternoon of enjoying
Amazingly consistant wines actually right through the 10 years. Even the perceived lesser vintages were really hardly a shade behind the lauded ones. The 1996 unfortunately was very mildly corked and the 2000 seemed to have some level of Brett infection but neither were undrinkable
Group top vintage was the 1999 which had a lot of class and length, but there was a very wide spread of favourites including 1993,1995, 2001, 2002
The 1998 was very closed and primary

Good to know on the 1998, was tempted to open sooner rather than later, will now leave for 5-10. Looks like you had a great event. Cheers.
