Re: TN: LEAS Chardonnay 1984-2008 vertical 7/3/11

Just poured a '96 down the sink last night, quite brown and disappointing after a '95 a few months back that was actually in pretty good shape. I'm worried my other '96 is in the same shape, a good friend doesn't think the LEAS are good for the long haul, I had hoped otherwise.

I'd suggest careful application of hot water around the bung to soften the gunk.

NWR: Telemarketers

A topic that's been covered a few times, but near and dear to my heart. Thanks to the government, I now have a new technique which I have tried successfully. Caller: blah blah blah (to the point where I work out it's not something I want) Me: Are you aware of the new government "No Call Registe...

Interesting at the winery there were four items pinned onto the barrels: 1. Langtons IV 2. JO tasting notes of the current releases 3. A paragraph of RPJ 4. A Philip White article that on my very quick read looked like some RPJ bagging Have to say that all the wines tasted great - the pinot quite a ...

New WET into force yesterday

The new version of WET went live yesterday. See here on the ATO site for the two page blurb. Is the expectation prices will drop, not change, or increase as a result? My quick reading suggests to me that there is a tax advantage for small producers which they may or may not then pass on to the consu...

1996 Bass Phillip Reserve Pinot Noir
:weep: Corked. Absolutely dead on both the nose and palate. A$115 down the drain!
I spoke to Phillip Jones and he promised a replacement after he had finished his harvest.

Let me know how you get on with this ... I'll say nothing further at this stage.

I'd have to agree with Andy - the Cabernet to me had a bitter, perhaps metallic taste that just didn't match my expectations. Fortunately I had the Warner last, and was still tasting it 20+ mins later on the way home. The cabernet was the weak link in an otherwise strong lineup.

Jamie,

Was that US$? Or perhaps a small case? The reason I ask is that the '92 was on the mailing list for $92 (sort of sticks in the memory ...).

Only 1 this week

having been in NZ for the start of the week. Abbott's Prayer 1994 Dark red slightly translucent around the edge, very perfumed straight out of the bottle, which didn't seem to change much with 30 minutes in the decanter. The perfume followed through to the palate, with sweet fruit and nicely integra...

And still more waffle

I've got to say that in my IT career, capacity planning means doing it before you run out ... Not quite sure what an "accelerated capacity planning program" gives, but it sure sounds impressive. http://australianit.news.com.au/articles/0,7204,7618869%5e16123%5e%5enbv%5e,00.html

Re: Details being public

Just to clarify on Paul's point about ways to ensure your information isn't public, email encryption by using tools like PGP will protect the content but will not protect your address.

The latest on the saga ...

A very informative (sic) update: http://www.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,4057,7561524%255E1702,00.html "The surge occurred in August..." ... "Telstra had worked over the weekend..." - roughly matches up with my experience in how quickly they get around to looking at problems

Re: Bad Smells

I've been with the aforementioned provider for over 12 months, and quite recently have experienced a number of service outages with dialup. One night I had no email, but did have web - somewhat intermittently. I had a look at the outage info on the site, to find that they were experiencing a "broadb...

What do you do when your funds dry up

Hi all, A topic of current relevance to myself. Having recently had number 2, and the boss currently on domestic duties, the cash flow has reduced somewhat. Just interested to see what the typical approach is in this case. I have come up with a reduced list of mailing lists that I want to buy from, ...
