Penfolds Bin 407 1994

time to try one and see how it is coming along and I must say it's doing very well. Deep purple red with all the classic cab sav characters on the boquet, the palate was fresh with lovely blackberry fruits and plums, very good length & finish. It still has someway to go before it is anywhere nea...

Have had something similar, really is a lovely dish.
Not easy when you have to cook for an almost vegetarian and seeing as you are somewhere near Albry/Corowa maybe you need to look at some of the local produce. how does she feel about yabbies?

Maybe try Telfast, it is non drowsy whereas Zyrtec isn't ... another option is Becanase or Budamax Aqueous... you will need a script though. both are nasal sprays and are quick acting. I have found the nasal spray coupled with some cold & flu tablets work quite well. Just make sure you spit the ...

I agree with Ric on this one, will not be touching my 96 707's until at least 2006. Try one then and assess from there as to when try the next one as I believe these will keep for quite sometime.

Red Bigot Dinner

Firstly thank you to all who offered suggestions on food & wine match ups. Red Bigots Dinner The menu was straight out of The Epicure (The Age) featured a few weeks ago, the challenge was to try & match Red grape with the different courses. Hors-D'oeuvre : Celeriac tartlets with Truffle oil....

Regan, thankyou for the explanation.

This certainly has been a great topic, although the views are somewhat split, ie be descriptive or not so, each opinion is very interesting as it highlights the differences in wine assessment/critique.

No wonder wine is such an interesting subject 8)

All in all some valid points both Justin & Regan, although I can see how the boquet of a wine can influence the palate. Ever tried tasting a wine with a cold when the old nose isn't working so well. A little experiment, next time when tasting block the nose and see if there is any difference. I'...

2000 Cullen Cabernet Merlot

Deep red with purple hue, that leads to a nose consisting of sweet sticky fruit, sweaty leather & tobacco. The palate exhibited more of the same plenty of sweet fruit with lovely ripe tannins although lacking acid to help cut through the sweetness. A shortish length lacking complexity with a clo...

1999 Cullen Cabernet Merlot

Deep dark & brooding colour, one swirl of the glass and the aromas were bountiful and inspiring. Cassis, spice and dark berry fruits accosted the senses making me salivate in anticipation of what was to come. A wonderful fruit palate with great depth displaying an array of flavours, layers of be...

1998 Cullen Cabernet Merlot

Red purple almost inky, markedly different to the '97 in that the wine is already showing secondary charateristics of tobacco, leather, rich dark fruit. Tasting highlighted how huge this wine is, with flavours of blackberry, licquorice and dark chocolate to the fore. Full bodied with a good balance,...

1997 Cullen Cabernet Merlot

Deep red in colour with a lighter brick hue at the edges, the bouquet was reminiscent of cassis, forest fruit and leather. The palate was a slightly different story, a lovely mouth filling ( no middle palate hole) wine with a good depth of flavours predominantly plums and blackberries. The finish wa...
