Leconfield Cab 2002

I was given a bottle from a business associate, revered to be a achtypical of a Coonawarra Cabernet. Read some unfavourable reviews on their past vintages that this wine tends to be stalky but recently the style has changed for the better. I just cant finish the bottle. No nose, unbearable acid, unr...

Biggest loser is Mount Mary. Never had any before. Is it uninspiring as Mr.RP described or his palate being numb by all the showstopper South Australians :?:

Pinot Noir is an illusive grail in Australia. Better off sticking to the Rhone varietal. I support AOC Australia.

Mitolos 2004 tasting

I was a little disapointing with the 2004 Mitolos despite of the stellar '04 vintage. Not a patch of their 2003. GAM and Reiver were elegant by their exalted standard. Good but not excellent. A more austere and rustic Savitar? Serpico was hollow and surprisingly oxidised very quickly. I suspected th...

Thanks for the notes Ric.Would have bought it if I don't know the OZ retail price. Over here it's going for US$30.
The label is very eye catching in a sinister way.

Jancis promoting OZ wine

Can we trust her 2003 Tapanappa - the debut vintage A fascinating new wine coming from some of the best terroir in Australia expressing the joined cultures of Old and New World wine making. Drinking well already yet with 3 to 5 years cellarage potential, this wine is on allocation reflecting the sma...

Take HS with a pinch of salt.

My take:

1999 **** Cool Vintage(Elegant)
2000 ** Wet Vintage(Diluted)
2001 **** Hot Vintage (Very Ripe)
2002 ***** Long cool and dry vintage(Concentration)
2003 **** Similar to 2001(Very ripe, uneven)
2004 ***** Better than 2002? (Yet to be seen...)

A food wine that was marred by the development of a slightly unpleasant herbaceousness.

Thanks Mikey!
Would have bought if not for the above statement. Loved a "stand alone Barossa ripper" and herbeceousness I can barely tolerate even in good Cab Sau.

Two Way Range Barossa Valley Shiraz ?

Received my mailer from Grateful Palate. Here's a new addition to their portfolio Two Way Range The Story of Two Way Range Barossa Valley Shiraz Paul Clancy and Iain Seabrook are two typical Australian "mates". However, their friendship is a little deeper than most, because they share the experience...
