TV: Wild Duck Creek 2002 & 2004 Springflat Shiraz

We had a rare grown-ups night last Sunday where we invited to dinner by another grown-up couple! The kids got to stay at home with Nanna and Grandad while we got to indulge in great food and wine. Anyway, to the wines. 2002 WDC Springflat Shiraz: While this is a 7 year old wine it was still exhibiti...

2007 Felton Road Pinot Noir . First pinot I've had in over 5 years due to the continued frustration with the variety experienced by myself from AU producers. This on the other hand was brilliant. I can't see myself running out and buying loads of AU pinot though. And at the price for this wine, I c...

Penfolds Bin 128 Shiraz, 1998 : Still really big! I've got a modest collection of wine and I am now reaching the point where I have a number of 8-10 year olds and thought I'd give this a crack tonight. I remember tasting this shortly after release and thinking it was quite big and a lot of the flav...

2002 Stonyridge Larose. SRL has its knockers thats for sure and there is no doubt that the price for this wine has just gone insane in the last couple of years. Although I dont taste or drink this wine often I have tried many vintages of it and I still respect it as an extremely good NZ bordeaux bl...

Cosmorex Blue Blend does it for us in Canberra, good espresso via a Gaggia Titanium. So since this thread started, you've changed machines RB? Out with the Saeco and in with the Gaggia? Re: Want to buy a winery and vineyard?

Foggo Wines in McLarenVale and Killerby in WA are both on the market. Both family-owned/run establishments, must be an opportunity there for someone to make a go of one or other of these before a big company buys them up for the vineyards. Maybe that's why it's been quiet on the telemarketing front...

No need to lock down exact wine, i was more thinking generally - few whites, few reds

Max will be bringing his wine in the traditional masking agent - the (clean) sock!

I just tried the Sauce and they advised a two bottle limit, greater than 10 years old and corkage $16 per bottle. I have a table of fourteen. Is this a common Adelaide BYO practice now ? Limiting bottles. I know they've got to make money, but this is extortionate. $16 per bottle is ludicrous as is ...

Stuart, The majority of the top fortifieds are sold in 375ml bottles. Many have a different shape, long and thin - think Campbells Gold Top and Bullers. But why? Apart from asthetics and a perceived originality, what is the reason? Is it such a drama to use existing 375mL and 750mL bottles that are...

In Aus, Larose is very hard to come by at retail or auction. I have been buying en primeur for about 5 years now and share my allocation with a couple of friends. It costs about A$87 landed and delivered in Aus which, while being expensive, isn't too bad in reality. To get this wine you must take up...

September sounds fine guys, but I can't organise this time. Also, Abla's is in the throes of becoming fully licenced as per Tuesday's Epicure. Once that happens they will be charging a small corkage fee (per head from memory).

Not that we are tied to Abla's, just an FYI

Looking forward to doing it again in September. Anybody looking for a great night out with fellow enthusiasts, please let me know.

TN`s to follow. My wine of the night was the Eileen Hardy (vintage to follow).
