Friday nights at the National Wine Centre

Hi guys

Can anyone give me some thoughts and experiences about the friday night tastings at the National Wine Centre in Adelaide.

I just read about them in a recent Adelaide review and I thought I might pop along.

But, if it is crap I won't bother about it

Leconfield (home of Richard Hamilton) is probably the best place to drop in. At least there you can taste some < 15 % Shiraz wines that actually display balance as well as some bloody smart Riesling and Rhone Whites and Reds. If you have had enough McLaren Vale Shiraz Syrup before you get there, you...

Being vetoed by Gary

Has anyone had issues with being vetoed on winorama when they try and make a comment on some of his tasting notes?

Just a question, no malice intended, but free speech would be appreciated

Re: Jim Barry

I recently had a friend of mine for tea and he was kind enough to bring a bottle of the 2004 Jim Barry McRae Wood. It went very well with the prime beef fillet on offer from the cook that night so the following day I checked the Jim Barry website for info regarding the wine, however the website is ...

2007 Petaluma Hanlin Hill Riesling - Wow! Picked a bottle of this up after seeing a good review on Winorama. Shows the floral and fragrant tendencies of Watervale. Lacking a firm acid structure but somehow manages to avoid any flabbiness whatsoever. Amazingly structured, beautiful wine. Highly reco...

If that's the case, can you imagine adding this floral, tannic beast to something that's as tannic as Cabernet Sauvignon to begin with? It will give it a nice, vivid purple colour though. Cheers, Ian If Cabernet actually has the precursor compounds to form co-pigments .... As for Shiraz Viognier bl...

I did have a bottle of the 05 Jeanneret 'Rank and File' Shiraz on the weekend. Got it direct and while it's over the $15 mark I think it was around $20 thought it was quite well made. Really good body and fruit with undertones of licorice... Lucky it didn't have Brett or VA ... Glad you enjoyed it!...

2005 Richard Hamilton Rousanne Marsanne Viognier

Just tried a bottle of this tonight This wine is amazing value for money and is pure quality. Not surprising that firstly the winemakers responsible for this wine also make the fantastic wines of Leconfield. Secondly the clonal material for the vines was originally sourced from Maison Chapoutier, fr...
