2005 Richard Hamilton Rousanne Marsanne Viognier

Post by chuckles »

Just tried a bottle of this tonight

This wine is amazing value for money and is pure quality.

Not surprising that firstly the winemakers responsible for this wine also make the fantastic wines of Leconfield. Secondly the clonal material for the vines was originally sourced from Maison Chapoutier, from what I am told ....

The colour is still pale straw

While the aromas are intense and have all the hallmarks of that floral perfume that is usually associated with Rousanne dominant blends, the honeysuckle backbone of Marsanne provides some more complexity that keeps you second guessing.

The palate has all of that lovely fleshy waxiness that most love in these magical Rhone blends. This wine is so textural and keeps you coming back for more. The finish is long and strong.

A quick note the 2007 Viognier won a gold medal at the recent Melbourne Wine Show
