Re: DM 2007 magnum help

Thanks Ian

It has been 3 years since your notes, I wonder how the 07 DM has changed (if at all) in this time. I will give mine a few more years rest.

Spoilt for choice of late. Last week Hentely Farm tasting in Scarborough, yesterday Unwined and in a few weeks the Howard Park tasting at Royal Fresh Water Bay. Life's good.

Re: November Purchases

Great haul Allan

I was at Unwined yesterday and have to say I was very impressed. I could have gone berserk on the purchases but didn't. Ended up with a half case of the Silkwood pinot and a few Castelli Rieslings which had a big impact on - very very good young Riesling.

DM 2007 magnum help

I have a magnum of the 2007 Cullen Diana Madeline. Is it way too young too touch? For those that have tried it, any comments?

1983 Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon. Superb, secondary notes but still with nuances of primary fruit. What a pleasure and a perfect match with roast crispy skinned duck.

What's the quickest way to blow $100?

It was with an element of excitement that I managed to source a 2001 Woodlands Kevin and even more exciting when it was time to drink with a slow roasted duck. The cork disintegrated almost on sight leading to a filtering hence I was feeling a little nervous at this time. Beauitful deep ruby red col...

Re: Tasting Notes - Week Commencing 18-May

2011 Cherubino Frankland River Shiraz Until the last moment I was undecided whether it would be a 01 Woodlands Kevin Cabernet, a 99 Moss wood Cabernet or a 99 Voyager Estate Cab merlot to accompany this evening BBQ Tbone. Then for reasons I can't really explain my hand moved towards the Cherubino, m...

Was the Woodlands Rachel a cork? I think Woodlands moved to screw cap in 2005.

If you are after post work hours drinks in the CBD then try the Print Hall. Great wine list with fresh shucked oysters.

Hang around Burswood for dining. Many great choices with healthy wine lists.
If only a spare day, take a swan river winery cruise up to the swan valley.

Michael I was standing green side pin high on the 18th for the finale on day 4. After the first play off hole (18th) there were too many people to get a view down the 10 the for Bubba's shot. Apart from stunning lay out the most interesting point was how hilly the course is. I will definitely return...

Thank you for the notes. Loved your food matching for the Wendouree. One of my favorite evenings was alone with a 1990 Hill of grace matched with takeaway pizza. Superb.

Re: Grand Cru 40

Timnit I don't know that one. I have a couple of deLonghi wine fridges which have been perfect. The mechanics of wine fridges aren't that complicated and I guess very similar to one another so I wouldn't be too concerned about giving the Grand cru a go. I recall paying about $1000 for my 54 capacity...

I did a tour and tasting from the barrels with Mugford a few months ago. Trust me, make sure you have the 2011 and 2012 Moss wood cab sav on you must buy list. They were already incredible wines.

Scott Welcome. You are almost in the exact position I was 6-8 years ago. I went for the 150 fridge and guess what, I filled it very quickly on about a $5000 annual budget. I now store professionally off site and realise that unless you have $80k to build a proper cellar at home then store off site. ...

Re: Wine cabinet / fridge

Mark

I have had a 160 bottle capacity deLonghi wine fridge for about 6 years now and it has been perfect. It is not a split temperature fridge which I have heard from others are more temperamental to problems. My advice is to stick to single zone temperature units.
