Re: Decanting tips for a 50 year old!

Thanks for your comments, I'll definitely be treating the Grange with a lot of restraint and had guessed the Port would not be anywhere near as fragile.

Re: Decanting tips for a 50 year old!

Thanks for all your great advice, I was leaning towards a conservative approach to decanting and this seems to be the consensus from your replies. I'd already planned to stand the bottle for at least a week prior opening so again appear to be on the right track there too. Removing the original fragi...

Well my big 50 is fast approaching in November (far quicker than I'd like!) but I guess there's not much I can do to slow down time so all I can do is look forward to celebrating (or commiserating) with some birth year '66 Grange I picked up a couple of years back in readiness for the big day. I'm u...

Penfold's wine clinic twice?

I've recently bought a bottle of 66 Grange that's put away for my 50th birthday in a couple of years, the wine went through a Penfold's clinic in 1996 and passed, is there any good reason to re-check again at this year's clinic? Can a bottle be put through the clinic twice? It would be nice to have ...

Re: Auctions

I've been buying fairly regularly over the last 12 months from Sterling, Wickman and Grays and may have been lucky but have had a pretty good experience with all.

Re: What quantity do you buy these days?

Hi guys - first post but have been regularly following the forum for a few months and as a bit of a newbie have picked up so much great information from your collective wine experiences. With limited storage of about 140 bottles, I tend to buy wines in quantities of 2-6 from auctions with some bottl...
