Re: Wines of South America

Awesome recommendations guys. Although I've not made it to the wine making regions of Argentina I have enjoyeded many loads of wine during my stay so far. Highlights so far are a Luigi Bosca reserve Malbec and a Terrazas Malbec. Looking forward to trying some of your Chilean suggestions. Thank you f...

Re: Minerality in Wine: Fact, Fun or Fiction?

Hi Graham, For me I most often find minerality in chardonnays from Margaret River in WA, particularly Cullen. It's definitely something I taste rather then smell and it's very difficult to find the correct adjectives to describe it. Maybe granite or slate. Many would ask whether I've ever tasted gra...

Wines of South America

Hi all, In April I'll be taking a two month holiday to South America which will take in two emerging wine producing countries, Argentina and Chile. While there I'll naturally want to check out the local wine regions and wondered if anyone here can give me any advice ? I believe Argentina is well kno...

Re: Best wine under $20

Mf, you were spot on the money with the Pauletts Polish Hill Riesling, what a ripper that one is. I'm still trying to find the Hoddles Creek Chardonnay. There were loads of other great ideas too. Many of them I've tried but the others I will try to find in the next few weeks. Many thanks to everyone...

Re: Best wine under $20

Interesting selection from both of you. It's duly noted that you both picked Hoddles Creek Chardonnay, to be honest I've never heard of that one before. Quality chardonnay can be tough to find under $20, in fact the only one I've been drinking in that range in Stonier Mornington Peninsular Chardonna...

Best wine under $20

Well it's a new year and time to come up with new ideas. Whilst it's nice to be drinking only the finest of wines each time we feel like a glass, due to financial constraints most of us have to make it only a weekly or monthly occurrence. With this in mind I thought it may be a good time to come up ...

Re: Newbie question about Langtons.

It's reassuring to know that there are some checks in place at your biz Mark. I've tried to check out your site but when I look for auction there are none. Is this correct or is my browser playing up on me ?

Re: Newbie question about Langtons.

Ok, I decided to jump in and purchase the 389's. I'd earlier rang Langton's in Sydney to ask about the wine and it all came from a professional wine buyer/seller who mostly imports French wine, but occasionally sits on some quality Australian wine also. Apparently he deals in large quantities ( by t...

Re: Newbie question about Langtons.

On my original purchase a week ago I went and picked the wine up ( I'm in Melbourne ) and while there I spoke to one of the reps about freighting the wine. He said they simply use Australia Post. No climate controlled trucks, nothing. Just like any other parcel. So this means that the complete set o...

Newbie question about Langtons.

Hi all, Firstly, how great it is to see the wonderful discussion about Australian wine going on here. Among my family and friends I am the only one who truly has a passion for wine and sometime I probably drive them crazy with talk of layer of flavour in whatever wine I happen to be drinking. Over t...
