Re: Standish Mailer

Bought a dozen this year

4 x Lamella
4 x Schubert
2 x Standish
2 x Relic

Given another relatively strong vintage went the dozen. Have been buying since 2006 vintage and was mainly a half dozen most years.

Post Cellar Install - Next conundrum - Insurance

Hi all Happy New Year to you all! So I've now packed most of the cellar and already planning on the reshuffle to make it work better  Anyhow, now it's all back under the roof how do people go about insuring their collection? I'd hate something to happen to the house and don't have the wine prop...

Re: Cellar Arranging - First world problem

Thanks all for the advice. Great Cellar Brodie. I'm coming from a situation similar to Mike's with storage offsite in boxes and tracked in a spreadsheet. Given I've got a number of areas I think I'm just going to split out by varieties and white section, put a bunch of quaffers at the front and put ...

Cellar Arranging - First world problem

Hi all Been a long time since I've posted anything although still avidly reading in the background! Finally completing the renovation that needed to happen and have built a cellar with capacity for about 1500 bottles (already out of space before I fill it) So I'm needing advice on how to load the bo...

Good old Yarra Yering have upped the #1 20% overnight from 100 a bottle yesterday to 120 today. Medallion members take 10% off

Looks like the others are up 5% plus.

Wanting to be the Victorian equivalent of Penfolds or Henschke maybe?

Last night a 2007 Paradigm Hill L'ami Sage Starting to really hit its straps and heading into that next phase of its life. Good length, good fruit. Re: Right, what are we/you drinking now .. tonight

2009 Printhie MCC Cabernet Shiraz - This was a great wine coming in at 13% and is drinking really well with plenty of time left. 2008 Peppertree Classics Cab Merlot blend and thankfully doesn't have the Wrattonbully minty streak through it. This was balanced but a little sweet and again having had ...

Re: Yarra Yering old pricelist

I think we are pretty safe though with 2015 being a great vintage.

What disappointed me was seeing a retailer with the 2016 Syrah Pinot for sale at way cheaper than what I could buy it for direct from YY. So I bought it from the retailer.

A couple of 2006 Heathcote Shiraz last night side by side 2006 Brown Brothers Limited Release - The more fruit dominant of the 2 but starting to get some complexity on it. 2004 Peterson's McLaren Vale Shiraz - This was a big wine and I'm not sure what % it came in at however the bottle said 8.9 std drinks so I'm thinking it was up around the 16.5% somewhere. Took a while to open up and then wasn't too bad, a little porty but some good fruit still there and some licor...

2007 Port Phillip Estate Rimage Shiraz - probably left this one a little long. Very close to being devoid of any fruit but not a bad food wine. Nothing sticking out but not really exciting either.

Re: At what vintage do you stop buying.

Have pondered this first world dilemma many a time. I have around 1500 bottles of which dates back to mid 90's - although fairly skimpy as to what's left there around 20-30 bottles. I'm only 44 but worried some of the stuff when it comes round my palate will be shot and I can't taste anything. I hav...

Re: Henschke Mt Edelstone verus Chave Hermitage

Well, i guess the upside is that wines like penfolds and other twe brands (wynns et al) the aged stuff now seems very cheap. John Riddoch especially! Rossco I do not consider JR to be cheap. Last 10 vintages with RRPs of $100-150. Getting 2 3-packs of the '13 at $65 a bottle was fantastic but Riddo...

Fed up with Kennards

Hi all I just received my yearly rental hike from Kennards for my offsite storage. Up over 20% and a massive 62% price hike in 2 years I have argued again and again with them over their "justification" of how they can ramp up prices as such. If I increased my prices to my customers to that...

Thanks Bob for the heads up. Last night and one of the best wines I have had so far this year 2006 Meerea Park Alexander Munro Shiraz - This is incredibly good. Volume, length and depth of flavour is just all there. This was the first of a number of cleanskins they did of this a few years back for $...
