1999 GW Mr Walsh is a stirrer, a troublemaker and correct in this case. History, as the arbiter of these things, will show that 1999 shall eclipse both in time, thus rendering the argument insignificant. However, put both in your cellar. And as much 99 as you can find. Rockford BP Turkey Flat shira...

Great fun, and I also scored many brownie points with the wife and teens, cause at around $30 a kilo, snapper is NEVER on the menu!! Cheers, Rossi.. p.s I missed that score from the last one dayer in Cape Town..can anyone fill me in on the details??? Just watching the last one dayer now. You should...

Mr Twin,

Passed by the cellar door several months ago and the 03 Nirvana was the pick of them. A couple made it into the cellar anyway. Sorry, have no real notes. 03 Dark Side wasn't as impressive.

I recommended the 2002 Murray Street Cab. Sauv. in my post above, but didn't mention how impressed I was with this wine, which seems to me to offer great value for money. Wizz, Steve, Bill et al are right. Coonawarra is a long way from the rest of SA and shouldn't be rated the same. I passed on most 01's as they were not up to standard of the 98,99,00. 02's came in less impressive than 01's. Passed completely. 03's are looking good so far. Anyone who likes Coonawarra...

Why does this remind me so much of Jamieson's Run. The child label becomes so popular it grows so big it takes over the parent label. The old classics like the Mildara white label Coonawarra Cabernet became either impossible to find or converted to other JR labels (McShane's, Alexander's etc). Anyon...

Had the last of the 1990 last year. Fabulous wine. Nowhere near collapse. Also a 95 last year that was right on the button, again without falling apart. The lesser years seem to make 8-10 easily. The better ones - who knows? RB seems to enjoy these younger than I would.

Hi Martin, It was no surpise to me that the 4-5yo showed better than 2yo as they were the super premiums released with more age. They should show well. Ratty,

The Huntington Estate HB (home bottling) reds are unbeatable. It's a mailing list only, and they sell it in bulk containers, or for $98/case. Can be a little vintage dependant, but the good years really blow away all the cheap riverland reds.

Martin, I decided to skip most of 01 at the Coonawarra roadshow a couple of years ago, when my 6 best wines of the tasting were 1x98, 1x99, 4x00. The 01's were just outclassed. That I had too many 98,99,00 already made the decision easier. I noticed the same thing last year when I preferred 01 to 02...

Shiraz 01 - Good without being exciting. Cabernet 97 - V.Good effort fr a lesser vintage. Cabernet 01 - Lets faced it, the last excellent Majella Cab, I had was their 2000 vintage. Lately their wines seems lacking some ommph! Malleaa 2000/01 - It's used to be the benchmark for a Shiraz/Cab Blend in...

ISIS - A winning trifecta of good food, service and glassware. The only place where I've seen a BYO wine decanted with more care than I'd take at home.
They'll only take a maximum booking of 8 though - great for a small offline.

Funny you should mention that, Wilson.

Brisbane water has a higher mineral content than Perrier.

It's very interesting his use of the term "moron market". Coming from the land who's affinity with Jacob's Creek literally launched our export industry almost single handed.

It's sounds to me like he's got the hot air market cornered, being both a Philoshopher and a wine writer

Hi Ratcatcher, I happened to have a 2002 Semillon on the weekend. Still very young and fresh, will last quite well and looks like starting to develop a little bit of complexity.
